Sorry, I suppose I should have said popular. I listen to quite a lot of hip hop and rap from different areas and there are still very few that stick to not saying awesome dude in most of their verses. But you can take your all knowing, holier than thou attitude and stick it up your arrogant ass.

Very true, well except the other 500 CD/Vinyl I have from other artists who don't do either thing you mentioned. The fact that most rap isn't what I bolded is probably over your head.

On his new album Em has a bunch of songs where he doesn't sound angry, even has a few inspirational songs.

Nobody lives in the part of Detriot Em grew up in because they want to. It's all his family could afford I'd imagine. While no person is stopping them, there are circumstances that are. Not everyone can afford to move, the majority of the US population isn't rich like the average ATOT. I mean this board is full of people who could lose their job tomorrow and still live comfortably off for a few years without getting another job just off the $200k they have in the bank.

Grew up with a shitty mother, no father, poor and in a shitty city. Married a fucked-up woman and went through a fucked-up divorce. Had some family member commit suicide. And wasn't his best friend killed in a night club recently? (I'm assuming all this is true.)

That'd probably be enough to make me a little miffed.

I listen to a lot of rap and not a single album I own has someone saying awesome dude. Not once. If your rap has it in it, then you are listening to the wrong stuff.

because it is the cash cow that his audience can relate to.

on a side note: his new album is substantially better than his last 3. Getting clean was obviously a great career move.

Please mention a few.

Trip Lee. Lecrae. THISL. Their last albums hit #1 on iTunes. Lecrae's has been in top 10 since it came out 2 years ago. I know a lot more if you really want a list of all the artists I listen to.

I hadn't heard of either of them, and while I admit that they seem to be good rappers lyrically and have solid beats, I simply can't stomach any sort of christian music.

Sorry.

A typical review. Nobody argues their talent. Andale is probably the best rapper I've ever heard, but people tend to shy away when they hear Jesus.

Well you should have said "one of the only popular rappers who doesn't say it" you said "one of the only rappers" which to me would encompass all rappers. Regardless of if they're popular or not, there are more rappers who don't rap about hoes & using the N word than do. What I said has nothing to do with my holier than thou attitude, I was simply correcting something you said that wasn't factually true.

Because it sells, unfortunately. The guy goes off publicly and repeatedly on his mom for being a dysfunctional parent, blaming her for his ills due to poor parenting, but doesn't even consider the 'vicious cycle'. i.e. maybe her childhood was even worse and she actually did better by him? Its hypocrisy and self entitlement. e.g. I get to blame my childhood for the way that I turned out, but my parents deserve all the blame for the way they are.

Then goes off on Kim without ever admitting that he may have brought just as much bad mojo into the relationship. i.e. I'm royally screwed up because of my mother and my childhood, but I wasn't so screwed up that I was just as much to blame for the dysfunction in my relationships as anyone else.

IOW, all my flaws and mistakes are someone else's fault, but everyone else's flaws and mistakes are their own fault.

Angry malignant narcissism sells, sadly.

That hobbit is a lucky little sh*t isnt' he lol.
His wife is one of the few that shouldn't be jealous of their husband making out with megan fox.

The lyrics could have been written by a taliban fundamentalist :
"Tie her to the bed and set the house on fire"
Would be a better video. Now you hear about abuse. And you see a beautiful woman singing and a handsome young man together with another beautiful lady . It should be a video with pictures like these :
It fits these pictures :

But in all honesty, i think he should go into acting in hollywood. The music and the attitude is just an act as the setup was with Bruno at the awards. He might as well end up in the same league as MArky Mark Whalberg.
A good actor, i enjoy the characters in the movies Mark Whalberg plays in.

There is talent. Right there

It's because our country embraces min-maxers, especially in rap. If you like Jesus but have never gone to the dark side, you're viewed as weak because you live by a set of rules. What Christian rapper has been to prison for drugs, brandishing guns (Lil Wayne), or taking gunshots to the nuts (2Pac)? No Christian rapper... I'm amazed they can even sell anything because there's only so much you can rap about as a "clean" rapper... whereas normal rappers can talk about the struggle between good (God) and evil (Satan). They can talk about "beef" with other rappers. How the hell can a Christian rapper have beef with someone else? This is why no Christian rapper will ever match Eminem or anyone from Aftermath's sales.

Malak, none of those Christian rappers have ever done better than Billboard #58... Eminem's last album hit #1 for freaking 5 consecutive weeks... and he's sold twice as many albums worldwide than Jay-Z (80 million vs 40). When it's all said and done, Em will be the greatest rapper alive, not Biggie, not Pac, not Jay-Z. His recent album showed he can still bring the heat...

People said KJ-52 had "beef" with Eminem because he wrote the Dear Slim song. There are plenty of good Christian rappers, but some better than others. Grits for instance are pretty well known, at least that song "Here We Go" (I think that is the one)- it is played on MTV all the time. As well as P.O.D's boom song, while they aren't rap, that is played a hell of a lot. Other Christian rappers like Lecrae and Trip Lee are really good, but are not big because their message is basically straight scripture. The beats bang like normal rap, but the words aren't "Lemme fuck this bitch and smoke this weed and pop this 40 mah awesome dude", because let's be honest, that is what 95% of rap is. Which is why I enjoy rappers like Busdriver and Eminem and Del the Funky Homosapien.

I can't stand most of Eminem's music, but "My Band" is hilarious, and both "8 Mile" and "Rap Game" are pretty good.

So then you cant blame Eminem when he grew up angry, can you?

Well trying to break through the "glass ceiling" of a white rapper in the hardcore rap game was going to have to take someone whose will was unbreakable + amazing talent. Em was forged in the 8 mile trailer trash parks by Detroit, noone from a cushy rich white neighborhood would have a big enough chip on their shoulder to succeed as a white rapper in an all black genre... for one, they'd get laughed off the stage for not having street cred. Em had talent + street cred + shtty torturous upbringing = unbreakable will to break the glass ceiling.

When Trip Lee's album, Between Two Worlds, came out it beat out Eminem on iTunes charts. During it's first week, it was #3 overall, not just hiphop. Christian rappers sell a lot more than you realize. Lecrae is actually the CEO of his record label, and when all the rappers on the label came to Seattle they had so many people in line they decided to do a second concert immediately after the first because they couldn't fit everyone inside.

And do you really think these guys were born Christian? You think none of them has been shot? Dealt drugs? Gone to prison? Really???? Unlike secular rappers, these guys got OUT and that is what they rap about. And don't think for one second that all their songs are happy happy joy joy. Thisl is the perfect example of a dude that got out of prison and decided to serve for the good of the community. He has been in the thick of it and still is, but now he's on the right side.

As far as having beef with other rappers, how is that good music? That's just dumb. These guys use the music for GOOD, how can that be bad? And guess what, it sells.

If you really are gonna argue that rapping about good AND evil doesn't have as much depth as rapping about only good then it's hopeless.

BTW, I saw Lacrea ft Trip Lee and wasn't impressed. Not very inspirational for "Jesus Muzik". More like 1 dimensional southern style rap. Lacrae sounds like a baby version of Twista.

Em's Not Afraid was 100X more inspirational:
