Why does drinking beer before liquor make you sicker?

Probably because a lot of people don't pace themselves as well with hard alcohol as they do with beer. I could slam down 4 or 5 shots/mixed drinks in the time that it could take me to drink a beer or two. If I've already had two or three beers and I slam down a few shots or mixed drinks in a short amount of time I'm going to be hurting.

On the flip side, if I'm doing hard alcohol, and then switch over to beer, it's usually because I'm trying to slow down and pacing things out. If I slow down with beer I won't be feeling as rough in the morning/later evening.

Just how I operate though.

MYTH: You get drunk a lot quicker with hard liquor than with beer or wine.

I call BS - in actual application, not in technicalities. Mixed drinks or shots will get you fscked up soooooo much quicker than beer. In one mixed drink you could easily put in three to four shots of some pretty hard stuff and still have it palatable enough to drink down in a few minutes. You simply can not do this as easily with beer. Short of shotgunning or beer bonging which is neither fun nor that tasty, you can not get yourself hammered as fast with beer.

Sure, but that is increasign the rate and or amont drunk.
The same amount of alcohol in beer, liquor, or wine, will have the same effect no matter what order or combination you drink it in.
Technically, carbonation can increase the absorbtion rate, but not by a whole lot.

no studies have been done to prove it but the theory is that carbonated drinks are absorbed faster than alcohol, something in carbonated drinks stays in the lining of the system, so liquor intake afterwards would be absorbed a lot faster into the system, therefore causing a person to get drunk and/or sick faster...

Like I said, in theory they are the same, but in actual application you'll have a much easier time getting blizted out of your gord (if that's your goal) with hard alcohol. Based simply on the ability to consume more alcohol in a single 8 or 12 oz glass, you can drink a kamikaze or a stiff long island much easier than you could a beer. And it's going to hit bottom a lot harder.

I can also say that different types of alcohol do make a difference as well. I can't drink malt liquor at all. One or two of those lemony malt drinks (mike's, smirnoff, ect) and I'm miserably bloated and very groggy. Malt just doesn't sit well with me. Same way with certain ice beers. One or two icehouses and I'm sicker than a dog. But I can sit there and drink whiskey and waters or a light beer for hours on end without problems.

It's also like 1/10 the volume! There is nothing magical in vodka alcohol than beer; any arguments about carbonation and what not aside 25 ml of alcohol in the form of however much vodka that requires and 25ml from beer in the form of how much that requires will hit you the same.

There could be a small difference in that the vodka is a smaller volume of liquid so you can digest it faster though I suppose.

What we are saying is that as a delivery method, hard alcohol in the form of a stiff mixed drink or a shot is much easier to consume quickly than beer. And thus, gets you messed up much quicker.

I do it all the time and never have had a problem. Just last night, had some beers before switching it up to Long Island's, and I felt absolutely fine.

you just need to drink more. You will get it. I am a bitch when it comes to drinking but after half of year of practice I could finish a 26er and still spend a wad of dow at the bar.
