How about we keep our plastic bags and instead get rid of that bulletproof plastic packaging everything seems to come in now. Christ, I go to Sam's to buy a tiny little usb drive and it comes in a 2 foot square bulletproof plastic clamshell.

I use a Carrefour bag I got from France. It's a conversation starter when the cute checker asks you what the words mean.

All the checkers think I must be some hardcore environmentalist now. The bagger yesterday apologized for putting some groceries in the plastic bags because everything didn't fit in my Carrefour bag.

Buy a USB drive, encased in plastic bulletproof clamshell. Buy a utility knife to cut through said plastic bulletproof clamshell, just to find it is encased in another bulletproof clamshell!! ARRGHHH!!!!

Actually, they are far from pointless. They cut down dramatically on theft.

As inconvenient as they may be, there is no denying their deterrence to theft. No more opening a box only to find nothing or a brick in it.
