Man created marriage, God created love. 😛

How do you figure man created marriage?

Other animals don't get married?

Anyways, I think that people want to marry virgins.. you know, no 'used goods'. I wonder if people who are waiting would be OK if the person they ended up marrying was not a virgin as well.

No, I'm saying that God created marriage.

If God created marriage, then there'd be no divorce since GOD is perfect.

God created Marriage, but gave humans free-will.

OUCH!!! somebody got burned! LoL.

One main reason why i'm still a virgin is because i'm a Christian.

To all you other folks out there, what are your main reasons of staying a virgin until marriage?

EDIT: Is it true that having sex as a Christian b4 marriage isn't sinful?? I'm sort of confused on this topic now.

Try and approach this from a different angle.

If you have sex before marriage, you could end up with:

STD
HIV
baby

Sex before marriage also distorts the emotional relationship you have - do you want to have good or bad sex enter into the calculation of how well you know someone and why you want to spend the rest of your life with them? Do you want sex to just be an object of fun, that both of you have indulged in, or do you want it to be more meaninful as part of your intimacy?

Just look how sex is affecting people's lives right now, as a 3rd person observation. How much it consumes them. How much trouble could have been avoided if sex had been avoided.

Then maybe you will understand why God would deem it a sin. Sin is just another word for describing what isn't in our best interest. Look in the bible and you realize that there is more scripture that explains sex as good and beneficial (after marriage), than you will ever find talking against sex. When the disciples talked about this, they were like "So dudes, stay abstinent, it's holy and stuff" and Jesus said "no, it's better to have your mate and... mate, God wants you to have sex".

of course... he (GOD) wants us to have sex.. after marriage.

How do you have undying love and & devotion if you're already mounted all the other women? 😀
the devotion is there because i'm devoted to mounting the same woman everyday.
Here here.

I think that the Bible has premarital sex prohibitions because the men/culture at the time were very jealous and dominating over women.

I didn't read the whole thread but here's my opionion.
It's a bad idea to stay a virgin before marriage.
First, how do you know that the sex with you future wife is bad? That may affect your marriage. Also, you may not be performing (because you have no experience) well enough for your wife, she may be unsatisfied and cheat on you.
Then (as someone else mentioned) you yourself may wonder what sex is like with other girls and thus are more likely to cheat.

I second the motion 🙂

I was a catholic altar boy for 4.5 years & didn't miss a day of mass for over 3 years (7 day a week). And, when the opportunity arrived at first year college I got some with my then gf...it was the best 6 months of my life up untill then 🙂

To me, there are many reasons.

1) Sex is overrated. Lost of people have random sex nowadays. It just doesn't seem like it holds the same value as it used to.

2) The chance of pregnancy/STDs. I'd like to think that it wouldn't be me, but on the same token, I know the second I start having sex, unprotected or not, there is a chance for these to happen. People gamble all the time when playing the lottery thinking that they will win. But on the same token, they gamble everytime they have sex thinking they won't lose. I just find that kinda funny.

3) I want to give my wife something that no one else has ever had, and something that none of my previous girlfriends were never able to acheive with me. It's like the ultimate gift... knowing that you have been given something one of a kind that can never be taken away.

4) I'd like to think that a relationship doesn't need sex to survive. There are so many things that a couple can do that doesn't involve sex. I'd like to think that my wife will my best friend. I'm sure the married people here can back up that idea. To be my best friend, there's gotta be so much more than sex there.

When I think about it, while there are four perfect reasons to not have sex, there is only one fairly decent reason to have sex... for the shear purpose of having sex. I'm not going to judge people on whether they are sexually active or not, but I do know what I want, and that I'd like my wife to feel the same. If you're going to abstain from sex, at least have a decent reason other than because the Bible tells you so. That's just flat out stupid. This is coming from a Christain, too.

lol let me try to address your 'reasons'.
#1 Sex is not overrated. It's a pleasure to have sex. Take it from those who have had it. What kind of value are you looking for in sex? Do you think it's something sacred and holy? It's not
#2 STD/pregnancy is valid concern but condoms help
#3 You want to give your wife something special? I would recommend a diamond necklace from Tiffany's then. I'm sure whe will appreciate that much much more than an inexperience guy.
#4 You are wrong, while sex isn't the whole relationship, it's definetly an important part of it.

My overall advice is for you to hire a hooker and have fun.

1) When I first got my driver's liscence, I loved driving. Now I don't give a damn about it. In fact, I'm actually bored with driving. I've only had my liscence for 5 years. I couldn't imagine spending the rest of my life with someone and being bored with sex already. Sex IS overrated. How many people do you know that can say they've had sex together? Now, how many do you know that can say they have been skydiving or snorkeling together? You are more than welcome to your opinion on the matter, but you are a prime example of why couples stop having sex by the time they are 30.

2) The only way to be 100% certain is to keep it in your pants. I don't want to risk my chances at having a fulfilling life by getting some disease or becoming a dad. I know I couldn't support a kid right now and I wouldn't want to be forced into marraige right now. If you want to gamble, be my guest. The odds may be in your favor, but my odds are even better.

3) I'll just line right up with the other guys buying those for their wives.

Personally, I don't think jewelry is impressive. Having metal around your neck doesn't quite strike me as showing someone how much I really love them. All I would do is walk up to a counter and hand someone my credit card.
rolleye.gif

Additionally, You must have failed in reading what I said. I WANT TO GIVE MY WIFE SOMETHING THAT NO ONE ELSE WILL EVER HAVE. Certainly waiting for 20 some years to have sex is a MUCH greater effort than handing someone a credit card.

4) No, I'm not wrong. You don't need sex to have a relationship with someone, and it's been proven many many times. Again, I stress the fact that there are so many other things besides sex that couples can do, it's almost ridiculous how many of them settle for just sex.

You can take your advice and shove it right up your ass. If that isn't clear enough on what I want, then piss off. I don't care how many girls you've slept with or how many times you've bent your girlfriend over, I know what matters to me and it certainly isn't sex. IN, OUT, IN, OUT... WHOOPDIE DO.

Exactly. I used to be Christian and I believed in the no sex before marriage because it was sinful. Now, however, I am still going to wait simply because I believe I should give myself completely to my wife.

IanthePez and ness1469's answers pretty much nailed it on the head. If you really want your relationship to be special, your virginity is the ultimate gift to her on wedding night. Yes, it would be awkward for two virgins to get it on, but you learn together. That's a beautiful thing. It also means you didn't lower your standard. Although you have urges, you let your big head think.

Let's get this out of the way: sex is a big deal. Even if you don't think it is, someone special you meet in the future may think it is. She could be your potential wife. If you lie to her you would just degrade your character. As a given rule, someone in your life (ie parents, preacher, or potential partner) will always think sex is important.

The other reason for keeping your virginity is to keep your honesty. Very rarely will you find someone sexually active (many partners) to remain honest. There's always something to hide. One way or another someone gets lied to. There is a "game" to be played. Even among non-religious people, they still call each other sluts and whores. Women lie all the time so they won't be perceived as sluts. Men lie about their conquests to improve their image. When it comes to numbers, if there is a huge disparity between the two partners, the other will feel he/she has to catch up. This is particularly true of men. If his woman partner has a lot more sex partners than he does, it would be unsettling for him. He would feel justified to bring his number up given the opportunity. Another reason women lie about thier numbers.

^sounds like the rant of:

1. someone not secure with their sexuality
2. someone brainwashed by the "church"
3. someone too ugly to get some

to address your concerns

1. over time you will always loose some of the "magic" of the first time you have sex with a particular female. You do different things with your sex life to liven things up from time to time. So even if you are a virgin you will eventually get bored and if you aren't imaginative enough to liven things up then you will still stop having sex by 30.

2. using condoms and birth control pills/patch/shots are over 98 or something % effective if used properly and together. BUt there is always the small possiblity.. but there is a much greater possiblity that you will die in a car accident tomorrow, does that mean you are going to walk everywhere??

3. I'm sure your wife will appreciate it if you know what your'e doing on your wedding night .

4. Sex is a Very Big part of a relationship. It is possible without it but anyone will tell you something is missing if the sex is bad/non-existant.

lol ok obviously we have our different views but let me run this by you again, you'll thank me for it later. First, it's not all about you. How do you know your future wife even cares if you are a virgin or not? If I was a girl, I would stay away from the types of yours because it's a good sign that you will cheat later on or that there's something seriously abnormal about you. No offense, that's what I would think. If my future wife didn't have sex before I'd feel the same way (unless she's under 18).
Your 'reasons' again:
#1 - Driving is not the same as having sex. Yes you will eventually get bored of sex with the same girl but definitely not with a different girl. Your point isn't valid since eventually when you do have sex with only your wife, you will get bored after 1 or 2 years. Sure you can prolong it by it'll still get old.

#2 - on that note, you shouldn't go out in public at all, you might slip and fall or get runned over by a car. You don't have to have full intercourse to have sex btw.
#3 - Again, it's not all about you. What you think a girl might like is usually way off. Girls like money, sex, fame and more money. I've yet to run into a girl who said that she wouldn't like a diamond necklace from Tiffanys. Even though you don't think it's impressive doesn't mean that she won't. Giving your virginity to someone is only special if it's the girl giving it, not the guy.... unless you are gay. There's a reason for that, it's because the sex is better because it's usually tighter. Can't say the same for the guy.

I think that the Bible has premarital sex prohibitions because the men/culture at the time were very jealous and dominating over women.
And men today are different how? 😉 Many of the Mosaic laws can be explained away with cultural differences, but the laws of God which were reaffirmed by Jesus and his apostles are just as valid for Christians today.

I was going to post why I chose to wait till the wedding night, but I just noticed that BladeWalker already said exactly what I wanted to say in his 1st and 2nd paragraphs. Thanks for saving me some time. 😉

<snip>

I like ness1469's ideas and his responses (except for that bit of negativity at the end that I snipped). I am currently engaged to a lovely woman and while we have not had complete penetration - we've played around enough 😉 But we both decided to save "the best" for marriage. Why? For a lot of the same reasons ness1469 stated:

1. When our relationship was new & very physical, that's all we did was fool around. And it was fun at the time, but it got old after awhile (ok, a long while 😉). Now we still do fool around, but we do a lot of other things too that help to strengthen our relationship and teach us more about each other. Sex can do that, but sex is not required nor sufficient (by itself), to have a complete balanced relationship.

2. Neither of us is worried about STDs (since we are both virgins), but risk of pregnancy is a big thing. Benefit / risk ratio - we can derive a lot of benefit without being *completely* sexually active and keep our risk much lower (you can argue semantics about what's sex if you want).

3. The giving of ourselves to each other - to me this is less important, I think, although it used to be a bigger thing. It's a special "gift", if you will, that you only get to give once. You can be sentimental about it or not - whatever suits you. First times for anything are usually the most exciting, and the first time being with a girl will be more exciting (in most cases) than the first time being with some new girl.

4. I see sex as being an important part of an intimate, loving relationship, but I also see it as being something that can be worked/shared by both people. I guess the way that I look at it is - if we had sex before marriage, and I wasn't satisified (c'mon - I'm a guy - are we EVER satisified as much & often as we want??? 😉), is that a good reason to consider ending the relationship? If you think sex is a constant factor that never changes, then I think you would definitely have to consider that. But I consider sex to be something more of a process - I learn what she likes, she learns what I like, and as we share with each other over time (and compromise when there is a conflict of interests), the sex improves. In which case I would say that no, "past performance is not an indication of future success <or failure>" 🙂

Yikes this was long - alright, I'll shut up before I rant anymore 🙂

Sex isn't everything in a relationship but it is a big part. "You don't need sex to have a relationship with someone" to have a marriage relationship yah you sort of do. Otherwise you could go and marry some dude if your never going to have sex.
