I myself fall into the mispronouncing camp on that particular word, because I like the incorrect pronunciation more.
Me-lee sounds more like lopping off heads than may-lay.
Unless, of course, I'm being over the top and describing something as "a grim may-lay," then I'll revert to proper form.

You are correct, the gradual, yet interminable demise of the English language is greatly overrated and should be completely ignored. We will now resume our regularly scheduled programming.

Thank you for listening.

Don't blame me if you guys are just too lazy to add the 'u'. ;)

KT

That would change how we say it. It would go from call-or to call-oor, ridiculous.

No it wouldn't.

You are trying to say ou makes the same sound as o by itself? dolt.

You should write a letter to the creators of the English language to get that changed. Good luck with that and let us know how it goes.

Funny enough, I had already done this based on someone else' advice years ago. They replied that they were dead but would pass on the pertinent info. Look for a change in the near future to the proper way of pronouncing ou words

Oy.

MotionMan

haha, that one is weird, why in the heck did people start calling it jag wire

Because most models came equipped with "wire" wheels.

Later attempts to pronounce it "Jagmag" never caught on.
