i'm asian and it makes the blood rush up into my head. feel like my head is bloated. i look flushed. its not all that great:)

i guess i have a natural defense against alcoholism:p

thats why i'm trying to become a crackhead instead:)

but seriously, they've found that it does give certain people far more enjoyment then others. course the ones that get the best thrill become drunks.

"Why do some people not drink?"

I got all my drinking out of my system back in high school. I haven't done the 12 step. I just don't have any desire to imbibe.

The same reason some people don't have sex with an STD filled whore while doing lines of coke.

It is disgusting and dangerous.

It seems to me that most people who do not drink have the idea that when you drink you will always feel like sh!t afterwards. Thats not always true. There is a thing called moderation. Sure drinking a ton will make you feel horrible and sick to your stomach but the same can be said for most things, eat 20 bags of candy, drink 8 litters of soda and you won't be feeling to well either.

Kev1n,

It just never really did it for me. I'll have wine once in a while with dinner, but I don't like getting drunk.

Drinking is a touchy subject. Throughout high school, I absolutely HATED some of the people who drank, and with good reason, because they acted like morons. But recently I've realized that it's just not good to hate someone for something so trivial. I'm a junior in college, and while I don't consider myself an alcoholic, I will have the occasional drink once in a while to lighten up and take some of the stresses of school and work off.

Having a couple drinks just helps me enjoy the company of the people around me more. I went to Ohio State this past week for Summer Sanitarium, and stayed at a friend's house for the night. There were about 8 or 9 people there, and I only had a couple beers, but I had a good time with everyone, even though I had never met them before. I'm almost positive if I had the same attitudes about drinking that I had before, I would have not had a very good time.

Don't let stupid drunk people ruin something for you. I don't see any problem with people having a few drinks and enjoying each other's company.

Many don't like the dizzy boozy psychological rut it creates. And the well doc.ed health problems are there as well. Many of us are having a good time all the time and don't need the booze to make life interesting.

My family has alcoholism history, I drink, and I'm not an alcoholic. I don't think it's genetic.

There are a few reasons why I don't drink. First of all, alcoholism runs rampant in my family. I swear every one of my aunts and uncles is or has been an alcoholic at one time in their life. Second, I'd rather not have a good time one night, only to wake up the next morning feeling like I got hit by a cement truck. Third, I'm already goofy and retarded enough; I cringe to think what I might do when drunk. Knowing me, I'd probably streak through a party or puke in the punch bowl. Fourth, all or most of my friends drink and I have to be the designated driver. They need someone to drive when they're so plastered they can't even stand up straight. There is no way I am letting anybody I know drive drunk.
