I'm on my way way up to visit you behind the cheese curtain soon. Elkhart Lake. AMA Superbike racing. Yeah baby. Have seen a Canadian tear up that track on more than one occasion.

Until I went to Vancouver a few days for work last month, I didn't have a whole lot of regard for Canada. Now, I would definitely consider moving to BC if it ever came up. Vancouver is great.

I cant believe that there is an actual thread about this! I thought it was some kinda joke. Gosh, some people really do have issues. Canadians are no different than Americans. They're just colder.

Except France, we really hate France.

Damn right.

It's not so much hate as a general disrespect for being so large, yet so useless.... Kind of like Oprah.

I8hCanada is a god damn moron.

Yeah... why don't you pick up a Canadian text book and read instead of an American text book. Why the fsck would they have anything on Canada in an American text book? He says we have an ego, just read his post! The reason you guys don't hear anything about our war efforts is because you don't care to look anything up. How would you hear anything about our WW1 or WW2 contributions or the facts like how we liberated the Netherlands.

Oh yeah, here's a list of inventions by Canadians or Canadians that helped with the inventions. See how much of those products you use today.

But of course none of that is good enough for some of you.

Join the world wars? I got news for you: you only joined them because you were blindly following England's lead. And you didn't even make any impact in them! I don't ! think that I have ever seen a textbook or a historical essay on World Wars I and II that ever once mentioned you.
Canada finished World War II with the 3rd largest navy in the world and the 4th largest air force. :) We automatically joined World War I when Britain declared war, but joined WWII on our own accord 24 hours after the Brits did. The Navy then, as I remember reading, was mostly responsible for making sure crucial supplies arrived overseas to unoccupied Europe. The RCAF did an unnumerable amount of sorties into Germany itself composed of both fighter and bomber squadrons. Canada itself also housed a massive compound for air war training.

Canadian equipment being transferred to Hong Kong when Japan entered WWII was transferred on a moment's notice to the United States. No political BS, the need was apparent and being allies in wartime made our countries brothers.

On D-Day in Europe, the Canadian forces were the only allied unit to secure their objectives - against the war-mad soldiers of Hitler's youth movement, no less. Canadian ground forces by most accounts were revered as battle-hardened professionals.

I don't really mind the regular semi-goodnatured country bashing that goes on around here but would rather not see stuff like the above quote be thrown around. Some respect for what my country has given to the world would be appreciated.

You know how sometimes you tell a joke about someone and that person doesn't realize it's just a silly, meaningless joke (no harm intended)? And they take it so damn seriously that it makes targeting them in the future that much more hilarious? I think that's what we have here.

Lighten up, that's all I can say. If Americans started taking what foreigners said about us seriously and starting threads like this directed at every nationality ("Why do some [insert one of hundreds of nationalities here] hate America so much?") the AT servers would crash from all the posts and we would then waste the rest of our lives worrying over what a few idiots from hundreds/thousands of miles away thought about a group of people they have probably never even met in person.

I'm an American and I personally like Canadians. I was watching 'The Hurricane' just the other day and I thought to myself damn those Canadians are nice people, although they do smoke a lot and have wierd living arrangements. :D

I honestly just don't think about Canada at all for the most part. It seems like a nice place, though I blame them for Rush, Triumph, and Loverboy.

being a western canadian, i can HONESTLY say i have never heard one of my fellow countrymen say the word ABOOT as commonly laughed at outside Canada.

That is untill a new coworker of mine from central ontario moved out here. House and about were the two things i picked up immediatly... it was such a shame, because now I know how the americans feel when they hear it.

- A canadian who says about; ABOUT, not aboot.

:)

When will americans though learn to say ROOF and not RUFF. Everytime I watch Home Time, that guy always says it wrong.

Same with people saying a internet router, is a roooooter. That one pisses me off too.

I really don't believe that most Americans hate Canada. Don't take any of it seriously, and if you meet some jerk who really does hate Canada (or Canadian that hates the US) just write him off as the ignorant person he/she is. We joke about Canada a lot, but we also joke about every other country out there.

Except France, we really hate France.

LMAO :D

A long ago fraternity roadtrip to Strippers in Windsor... I LOVE CANADA!

<Oh, and to set the record straight, there are two tanks parked just off the sidewalk right downtown in Vancouver. Halfway between the stadium skytrain station and BC Place (for you visitors and the vancouverites who may know what I'm talking about)... >

Wow... Somewhere along the line we got a second tank?

<see the name now recognize>

LOL. I love when people say things like that as if they're incredibly cool or intimidating :D

I think ANYONE who lives in a country with 10 times the population, a better economy, and a better military, yet STILL makes fun of a smaller country has issues themselves. Canada never claimed to have the power the US does, we just love our country, as you love your own.

I really feel sorry for those who seriously make fun of us, but I know most of you are joking. :)

Seems to me being neighbors we should all just get along.

Case in point.....Middle East!

EDIT: BTW That tank that everybody keeps worrying about is just a rumour.

Hmm, could it be because Canada took home the Hockey Gold? Hey, I love Canada.

:)
