Seems like the folks in California generally have an open mind, and are open to change. The bible-belt states population generally don't like change. People who disagree on things sometimes don't like each other. I have lived near or worked in Chicago my entire life, and the folks around here don't have any ill feelings toward California, other than they don't have winter there :|

You do realize that Chicago and the burbs are rather heavily Democratic, right?

The biggest problem with California is the high number of both hippies and lawyers. Solutions are there, but the problem is that if the solution has ANY drawbacks at all, there's lawsuits. Even if the solution is "do nothing".

"If we cut down this one tree we will have world peace!"
"YOU CAN'T CUT DOWN THAT TREE!" *calls lawyers*

California, and the Bay Area, specifically, is the most hostile, intolerant area you will ever experience if you hold a single perspective deviating from the left.

The experiance of most people in western states with regards to California is that the Californians sell their multimillion dollar, 2000 sq ft single family home in Cali when they retire and the move to another state and overpay for a huge mansion in the country thuis driving up everyone elses property taxes. Combine that with some of the other messed up stuff that occasionally comes out of that state and they get a bad image.

Or from the right. You should've seen how many church groups tell me that I was going to hell because I voted for Kerry.

It is widely known in Cali that Oregon drivers are bad drivers. Drive through Oregon and I think they get scared of you if you drive as fast as the posted speed limit.

I used to hate cali...then i moved here for Grad school and really like it

I live in LA and could never settle down here, but knowing I wont be staying here for ever I enjoy the women and the weather.

I could def. live in other parts though

though i do wish we had nice weather as long as CA does i am not jealous.

I hate california because of the polices they have. Once california has them other states tend to fallow.
I also hate california because there are to many people. I would go nuts with that amount of people everywhere.
