Why do so many expensive watches not indicate the day of the week?

I love window shopping at beautiful watches and I think the budget for my next one may go as high as $150 on ebay... but it absolutley drives me nuts how hard it is to filter out all of the watches that don't have the day of the week.

Mabye the people who actually buy expensive watches don't ever wake up wondering what day of the week it is or slip through dimensional rifts while staring at their offices ceiling tiles and suddenly snap and start wondering what day of the week it is... but I sure do.

Anyone else with me on this?

If I wear a watch, it isn't too important a feature to me. Something nice to have, but not a necessity. Anyway, I don't wear watches.

i use my cellphone for the day and date.

Expensive watches have to focus more on the bling factor than on functionality.

your tuesdays/wensdays/thursdays don't blur together like some bad dream that won't end? I only wish I had the day of the week while I was in college...

If you don't know what day of the week it is, you don't need an expensive watch.* Expensive watches are for people who have jobs where they must be on top of their lives (at least to the point where they know what day it is).

*Or you are so rich and powerful, other people worry about the day for you

Nahh, I can usually remember the day, I just need the date.

I love watch shopping also. Even though I recently bought a $450 Seiko Titanium I still find myself looking at other watches. There is something about it.

$150 is not an expensive watch.

Not all of us like to buy a Rolex and smash it when we get upset, and then report it to your insurance company claiming it was stolen.

I never meant to imply that it was expensive, but I can't look at watches over 100$ without getting flooded with everything up to 500$

It blows my mind how few of them have an indicator for the day of the week.

Many mechanical watch wearers actually prefer watches with neither day nor date, because it makes it a lot easier to set and put on a stopped watch, compared to one with day and/or date.

I have many watches, and I don't really care whether I have a day display. I do like having the date, though.

I could see that. It might take away from the aesthetics as well, although I guess that all just depends on how you implement it.

If you need a small, shiny, mechanical machine attatched to your wrist to tell you what day of the week it is.......then you have far more serious issues to worry about rather than what time of the day it is IMO.

I have a Rolex Explorer, and I bought it specifically because it didn't have the date. I like the clean, vintage quality of the watch and others like it. Watches with a lot of complications are impressive, but simply too busy, imo.

I never reported my rolex stolen you jackass.

If it's that difficult for you to remember what day it is, you need help.
I think the citizen calibre line does this though, should be in your price range on ebay.

How is $150 expensive for a watch?

Besides most of the high end watches are stored away and are automatics, hence at most they usually just have a date function. I have 3 automatics and its a pain to keep adjusting the date when I wear it after a week or so.

Mine has a date function, but not a day of the week or month function.

I mean, seriously, what adult doesn't always know those two things, anyway? I haven't found myself wondering what day of the week it was since I was 15.
