I think the citizen calibre line does this though, should be in your price range on ebay.

Thank you

That's exactly the kind of watch I had in mind.

I know exactly where you are coming from. When I was traveling *heavily* for work I would be in three states in three days and often times when I woke up after putting in a 16 hour day I rarely knew what city I was in, let alone the day of the week.

Sometimes you just need to get your baring. Grabing the watch off the night stand helps do that for you as well as throughout the day. That's why I have a watch that tells me the date & day of the week as well :)

I'm just not a very "calender in-tune" person. I don't do dates well. I have to take a few seconds to remember how old I am. I can rarely tell you what day of the week it is without looking. I'm doing good if I know the day of the week. I just have too many other things going on in my head to think about those kinds of things.

well, my watch does indicate the time of day as well as date. date is the imporant thing as i keep track of the days. the only thing my watch doesn't take care of is the year and if you8 need a watch to remind you what year it is, well, you need a lot more then a watch.

i don't really go windows shopping since i got my last watch. nothing special except its durability. just a regular timex one but i swim with it a lot, take it on trips. everything.

Thank god. A man who knows where I'm coming from.

If you can really afford an expensive watch, you can also afford an 18 year hottie assistant who will let you know what day of the week it is.

So you look at your watch 1000 times for the time and then once for the date/date. Sounds like a wasted feature to me. Maybe they can put how many ounces in a liter too. I need that almost as often as I need the day.

I don't get the hate about having the date/day on the watch? It's WAY less obnoxious than the 8 billion features they are forcing into cell phones nowadays. Do you really need to have a cell phone/pda/camera/mp3 player/dictaphone/can opener all in one $500 brick that you lug around in your pocket?

Sheesh. Some people simply don't stay "plugged in" throughout the day and prefer to keep it simple. I'd much rather glance at my wrist real quick to get the date/time/day than pull a cell phone out of my pocket.

I would too, but not on an expensive watch, only on cheap digitals. I think dates and days look really stupid on an expensive analog watch. Almost always they are a little window cut into the main watch face or a stupid little dial that makes the watch too cluttered (see above)

because you need to be decently well off to wear an expensive watch, and you need to be smart to be decently well off, and you aren't smart if you need a watch to tell you what day of the week it is.

and it looks ugly.

Cheap watches will always look cheap, and the more complications a watch has the more expensive it gets; therefore, the cheaper the watch with the more complications it has, still cheaper it looks.

There are plenty of beautiful watches with many complications that are organized elegantly, but they cost an enormous amount of money relative to most watches. My favorite is the Lange 1.

I'm a function man but I don't completely ignore the form of things. The one that I own (linked above) was a $17 watch that is made by Seiko. It looks fairly decent and it's quite functional. It only has one dial for all functions. Yeh it has a window cut into it for the day/date but it really isn't as intrusive as you make them out to be.

I don't wear watches for jewelry that I can parade around and show off to people as a primary objective. They are for function first with fashion a far second.

It's the same reason that I still have a 5 year old cell phone that I've never chose to upgrade. It's not a fancy ass razor. It doesn't have a camera or mp3 capable ring tones. But it's easy to operate with a straightforward interface that isn't bogged down in features and animated menus.

I always thought it was because people that can afford nice watches are smart enough to know what day of the week it is without help.

The day of the week would be 100% useless to me. Sure sometimes I'm in a daze and can't think of the day. But, anywhere I'm at that the day is important, I'll have a cell phone (shows day), computer (shows day), and/or calandar (shows day). All three of those I could use faster than using a watch.

you can really do any of those things faster than flicking your wrist? That's why I don't understand the people who use their cell phone to tell time... It's so much faster and easier to look at your watch IMHO

The computer clock is always up. A calandar is right behind my computer screen. My cell phone is on the desk facing me. My watch is on my arm facing away. Thus the first 3 require moving the eyes slightly. The watch requires me to move my eyes, move my head, and move my wrist.

Watches are dying a very slow death. Even if you think the MP3 player, camera, cell phone is a bit slower, do you really need to know the day of the week 1 second faster? If we already have items on our body that do everything a watch does, do we need watches anymore? In many cases, the answer is no. Sure, some people will wear a watch for all of eternity. But fewer and fewer people will do so.

I don't like the 25 still. Seems like a waste of a good watch face.

The $250 one at BJ's or the like is not the same, I thought so at first also.
