Why do smokers get to take breaks every 30 minutes?

Ive never understood it.... At almost every job ive had, its perfectly alright for a worker to go outside and smoke every 30 minutes, but if i just wanna get up and walk around, im not doing "what i am paid to do"?

What gives...

Granted, my new job is not as bad, and im allowed to go get up and walk around every so often, but at old jobs i would get yelled at for it...

This is different. Why is it ok for them to get breaks all the time, and because i dont smoke, i cant?
 
It's probably a tactic to keep the number of disgruntled people who enter work with machine guns and grenades down. 🙂

Seriously, though.. At my last job, the smokers smoked at the same time everybody else had break, every 2 hours.. lol
 
Face it....................their smarter than us I guess..................they get double the breaks for the same job, but then their life is only a third as long so who's smarter in the long run..................😉
 
I agree most smokers I have worked with take breaks every hour or so. most of the time for at least ten minutes. It's a bunch of BS.
 
at first fvcking union, salaried workers can do whatever they want...
hourly workers, get 5 minute break every hour they can do whatever they want (including smoking)

oh i forgot they're called wachoakvia now

You guys are dodging the point here... Im not saying i dont not do work from time to time... But why is it ok for them to get up, stop all work, and leave for 10 minues to go smoke 2 times an hour??
 
I think he means, why does he get yelled at for "taking a break" whilst if a smoker was to take a break to smoke it's ok?

I dunno, I think that's what he means.
 
Thats just the way it is, get over it. If you don't like it take it up with management.


Why worry about what everyone else is doing, just do your job.

atleast they smoke outside....
my boss smokes 3 packs a day in the office 🙁
all my clothes that I wear to work smell HEAVILY of cigarette smoke

My job depends on these people being in their office. If they're not there, i cant do my job.
