Why do Republicans LOVE to overuse the word Liberal?

Well, you are entitled to that opinion, but what exactly would you do with seniors who rely on social security to live? Would you have them stand on the street and beg? Or have them choose between medical care and shelter? Do you want to not have a CDC to track infectious diseases?

None of the conservatives I know think like that. All of them wish we would get rid of SS, medicare and to some extent college financial aid. And don't BS about Civil Rights, that was a conservative driven issue back in the 60s.

I mean, its part and parcel of how republicans evangelically preach - they use labels for the notion of the "bad guy" as a way to get across the simplistic binary to the neanderthals they manipulate.
Marlboro Joe in Bumnutts, Texas, couldn't understand why he was getting poorer and poorer until the Republicans told him that it was "the liberals" fault. So now, Marlboro Joe feels sleeps a little easier (with a little help from a six-pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon) knowing who's the "bad guy".

You know, the problem seems to be based in the fact that both parties think their way to do things is the only "right" way, and spend most of their time complaining about how awful the other side is.

If our elected officials spent half of the time trying to work thorugh the differences in opinion, reach compromises, and actually *gasp* get things done as they do villifying the other "side", imagine what could get done.

Too bad the current ultra partisan climate only seems to be getting more and more divisive and adversarial, true bipartisanship is all but gone, and less and less gets done. The real losers in this are the American people. Too bad we couldn't dump the all the elected officials, the current two party system, and all the money that is involved in running for office so we could just elect regular people who better represent the average american they are working for.

The problem is they don't have the answer, if you get rid of SS, what do you do about seniors who rely on SS for their livelyhood. It's easy to be against SS when you don't have to come up with good alternatives. I guess you can wish that all seniors are gonna make a lot of money in the stock market to not need SS or medicare, but you are always going to have winners and losers in the stock market, and the question is what do you do with the losers?

Right...but to what end? People are so worried about proving themselves right, and the other side wrong, that they almost forget what the topic was in the first place. IMO, this is nothing more than a tremendous waste of time.
