They didn't intend for there to be a second, I just learned that the other day in an interview with the filmmakers...they put the To Be Continued? as a fun ending with the fly-away car. That explains why the story in the second one was so crappy. At least the third one was fun!

I think on Youtube they did a thing where they introduced kids to the original Star Wars. The general reaction was "it's slow and boring". Kids grow up in a time when commercials & shows are all ADD-driven with fast cuts in editing & super realistic CGI, so I can understand that perspective. Back in the 80's, none of that stuff existed, so we were all blown away & amazed by how cool it was. Even the Delorean, which most people consider pretty ugly these days (although I still love it :wub🙂, was a futuristic sports car back then.

I think it mostly boils down to what you grew up with, because that creates nostalgia, especially if it has a fun story with high rewatchability like BTTF. My younger siblings like Power Rangers & Pokemon to death, whereas I would rather watch Voltron or Thundercats.

I recall them having plans for a sequel but wrote the ending to be a bit ambiguous. The directors said having Marty's girlfriend Jennifer in the DeLorean at the end posed issues because she wasn't supposed to be in the sequel. So they wrote her in with Doc knocking her unconscious for most of the film.

I watched BTTF2 on New Years Eve, because you pretty much have to on the dawn of 2015. Such a great movie. They really nailed what the TVs would look like in the future, as well as the 80s nostalgia craze. Now we have an actual working hoverboard and Nike claims they'll be coming out with an BTTF shoe with actual power laces this year. All I need now is my food rehydrator and ceiling fruit.

Better than power laces imo - you don't have to wait for them to auto-lace like you do in the movie, you just press the button to tighten or loosen. I have black ones on my work shoes & white ones on my sneakers. Would never go back to regular laces!
 
The 1st movie is considered a classic. You don't have to like it but probably shouldn't call it crap. I don't like Gone with the Wind, but I'm not going around calling it crap.
 
Oh, so reading this thread I'm getting the message 😕 that it has something to do with 2015? BTTF2?? I have all three on DVD, don't think I ever saw #3, have only watched #2 once way back when, and #1 maybe 5 years ago, for second viewing ever. I suppose I could/should maybe watch all 3 now?

Yes, yes you should. It's always a good time to watch the BTTF trilogy. :thumbsup:

The third one always gets a lot of flack. It's certainly the weakest but it's still a fun movie.
 
They were great movies. I watched them again a few years back, I'd watch them again right now. There arn't a lot of movies that I like to watch more than once, but that is one of them. (all 3 in a row, of course).

Speaking of rewatching movies in a row, I want to do a LOTR extended edition marathon but I don't know anyone who actually wants to do it with me lol.

Peter Jackson likes to make LONG movies. I liked the LOTR trilogy, have it on Bluray, but I can never bring myself to sit down long enough to watch them.

Really? I've always considered the second to be the weakest. Same format as Transformers - first one was fantastic, second was dumb, third was at least better than the second. Plus it was kind of fun to do it Western-style for funsies.
