Why do people speed?

If going fast wasn't the object, we should have just stayed with the horse and buggy. Now get the fsck out of the left lane! 🙂

Cars are an appliance? Sh!t, I never knew that 😛

Meh, there's a reason the turbovan is what it is, but it doesn't get expressed on public roads. I don't know, when I've been driving for awhile, I reach a zen-like state where my bullshit real-world problems don't matter anymore, so I can look at them objectively, and quite frankly, I don't want that to go by any faster.
How old are you? I ask because you sound like the 90-year-old that's in the middle of two lanes that's completely zoned out and has little idea where he even is.

Because 200 miles at 200mph is 1 hour where as it's over 3 hours at 65. Course 200mph isn't nearly enough as you'd have to outrun the speed of the cops calling in spike strips. 😛

All kidding aside I really don't see the problem with 70 something in a 65. If the cops don't ticket for it then why not drive it. I've been clocked many times doing 74 in a 65 and never gotten a ticket for it. Mind you one needs to be careful of the conditions, 74 in a 65 is not appropriate in bad weather or heavy traffic.

I hate the damn pple going 65 in the fast lane and won't move out of the damn way, causing me to go around them! Even the other lanes are moving faster than him. If I'm not going at least 80, it just feels too slow. I live in so cal by the way.

Yeah, I was exagerating the "blizzard" thing, in reality it was a light dusting. I didn't even TRY driving in the only blizzard I've had my license to experience, took one look outside and said "No reason to go out there, I have food, I have intarweb, school's closed. Back to bed."
I have an idea: instead of posting more crap, why don't you respond to some of the people like myself that have given very valid reasons for speeding. I'll refresh your memory:

The reason I speed (I can't speak for everyone) is that I have a serious mental problem with just sitting there wasting time. I can't stand moving along at the speed limit getting caught at every light. It would be one thing if I could move at 45 the entire way without stopping, but just sitting there waiting for the next traffic light is PAINFUL. It's a waste. It's time spent doing absolutely nothing. I'm not even making progress towards my goal (being home/at work).
Is that NOT a valid reason to speed?

18. I'm attentive, stay in the middle of my lane, and know what's going on. Left brain drives, right brain chills.

IMO that's a valid reason not to give you a license. Wait your goddamn turn for a reply, and wait your goddamn turn for the fvcking light.

it is that rebel streak in people, they are more important, therefore they are above the law. they think they are better than everyone else

it is a "car-penis" thing, the person that goes the fastest/is in the "front", has the biggest "car-penis"

untrue, you're thinking about the volume of a car's engine. that's car-penis

people drive (or at least, they should) at the speed that keeps traffic flowing at a steady, safe pace. It just so happens that speed is faster than that which "the LAW" says you're supposed to drive.
