Why do people put signatures in their posts?

Signatures are fine as long as they're no longer than a few lines. Anything over 4 or so is just a pain.
 
Some of the sigs offer more laughs than the average joke thread. I find it entertaining what kind of crap people like to put down there (hmmm, that sounded kinda bad...)

I just turned off sigs here so I don't see them any more.
 
I put my username after posts mainly because when I'm reading a thread, I don't even bother to look at the avatar/username when I am reading, so I don't expect anyone else to, thereby making people see who posted what they just read.

Plus I have always done it in forums, it's just habbit now, I find my fingers just automatically doing it! 😉

Well, since you've got signatures off, here's what I have in mine:

half minus one - Free Shinerburke! - John Edwards 2008 - 15/0/0 heat

Hey, not a bad idea. I think all start inserting my sig in to my posts for those suckers who have sigs turned off.
