Speaking of that, what's up with BTX? Think I'll be forced to get a new case for it by, say, next summer?

I dunno, I've been worried about that too. Is AMD going BTX or is that going to be an intel only affair?

Its funny because BTX is basically just a return to the old AT motherboard layout with ATX features. :p

I believe Intel is the main proponent for BTX and it may be a while until it picks up more followers. Dell came out with the Dimension 9150, which looks like a BTX case.

<- enjoying his Super Lanboy for $60...it even comes with a tool case!

Tool case FTW!

Cuz you get what you pay for... especially with quality cases.

Like with everything, you get what you paid for.

Exactly. I am still using the Antec SX1030 I bought at Christmas of 2000. Sure I have swapped out the power supply to meet the demands of my systems as they grew but I still use the first case I bought because it is a quality piece that has served me well and continues to do so.

A quality case is definitely worth it. Personally I wouldn't drop $120 on one - Antec makes some very high quality cases in the $50-$75 range. My all-steel one weighs almost 50 lbs and you could park a tank on it. It was $60 when I bought it a few years back, but it must have been popular because it went up to $80 and its new model is now going for almost $100. Easy to work with, solidly constructed, good airflow. That last is very important - heat can kill hard drives faster than OJ Simpson.

my friend paid 20 bucks for his case. it's so light it has a handle on it, he can carry the thing with two fingers. I'd rather have that than a 50 lbs. case.....I don't get why people need this heavy duty cases? are you playing paintball or laser tag and diving all over around your cases??!
lan parties. Transporting your PC can be dangerous. A nice sturdy PC case lessens that danger.

i frequent a forum where somebody actually used one of those cases.

....he filled every single fan slot with the biggest fan it could hold. didn't believe us when we said it would be loud and would just about fly away.

I've paid over a hundred, about 150+ for a Lian Li case. By far the best case I ever owned. The latest Antec I bought was 90$, you definetely get what you pay for.

The fact is that the case is one of the most important componants. Along with the PSU, its also the most overlooked.

Higer Quality metal improves heat transfer out of the case, and the brushed aluminum/stainless steal that that case is made from will also help, as there is no paint. Also, the case is built for quietness, look at all the drive silencing stuff on it. It also includes fan filters to keep dust and ****** out of the insde. Basically its a Lexus of cases.
