Like with everything, you get what you paid for.

ease of installation, durability, smooth edges, better air flow, better fan mounts, better drive brackets, better exterior paint, thickness of material, and most important, looks.

I  my Antec Sonota.

So quiet. So easy to work with. So nice looking. Easily worth the $90 I paid for it a few years ago.

badly-desinged cases are difficult to work on, while better ones have slide-in mobo trays and such. the same can be said for cars... you can buy a hyundai elantra and be happy with it, or you can spend much more for a LS430. whatever you feel comfortable.

fan placement, whether or not it comes with a psu, materials, screwless casing, and how well everything fits together. I bought a 30 dollar case to use with my system and the motherboard barely fits right on the mounting points in the case, the hd placements suck and there isnt any removable mounting for quick access.. stuff like that.

Go buy a $30 junker that doesn't have mounting holes that line up in the right places or that has rails that have the tensile strength of tissue paper and side door that doesn't line up properly.

And then go work with a quality case from Antec or the like and report back.

It's like sitting in a $12.00 metal fold up chair and a $200 leather executive chair.

If your components are going to be top of the line, they will also put out a lot of heat these days. The case is one of the most important components, really. Do you want your computer to overheat and limit your functionality? It doesn't matter how great anything is if it doesn't work because of heat.

Noise is another factor, some people want (or need) a quieter PC. Some people have size constraints. Easy installation wouldn't be a big factor to me, unless I was a hardware reviewer.

These and many more is why you shouldn't skimp on cases. The pretty lights are just a bonus (for some), and actually don't add much to the cost overall.
