I cache movies on mine, especially handy while on a plane or in a hotel with crappy Internet service. My phone is a Nexus 6, and therefore perfectly acceptable and even desirable to watch movies on.

Obvious troll post is obvious!

* Maps!

* 4K video recorded on the phone!

* Keeping media on the phone so that you don't waste data for no good reason!

Obvious troll post is obvious!

On my last trip to California, I watched 2 movies at 4GB each on the plane as my 65" plasma wasn't usable. Games like KOTR and Xcom take up a lot of space, but are more than enjoyable on the go. I thought about strapping my desktop to my back and carry my monitor/keyboard/mouse but just isn't practical. 4k video eats up 100's MB pretty quickly. Also can use it as an USB drive in a pinch.

Does anyone else also find it funny that the OP throws out insults about not being able to afford a TV and then criticizes a phone with a lot of internal memory?

A couple years ago there was quite a few people voicing similar ideas but O haven't heard this one in a while.

But hey if the OP wants to give his money to the carriers by using too much data then have at it...

Exactly,then also consider the way people often travel in Europe or Asia. Trains are a common mode of transportation. Having several movies stored on your phone is a great way to kill some time.

I guess it comes down to how you store and consume media - local or cloud.
If you use cloud/streaming services exclusively, you only need the space for some apps and perhaps a few photos. If you store everything locally, you obviously need enough storage space for that.

this is not surprising. different people have different demands on their phone. My phone only has 8GB with many music, pictures and apps stored in it. I always get the message that the 8GB memory will be taken up and my phone becomes very slow. It is very annoying. I'm planning to update a new phone with 32GB.
