why do people make a big deal about cheesesteaks?

wtf is the big deal with cheese steaks, I've made steaks and then melted cheese on them...it's not that good at all...and if you heat up the cheese it loses a lot of taste...why would anyone eat this food?

Top round steak sliced wafer-thin, chopped into small pieces, grilled in a little butter and oil, and just before it's done lay two slices of provolone on top and cover with a fresh, crusty sandwich bun. Garnish with lettuce, tomato, grilled sliced mushrooms. Mayo, grilled green peppers, grilled onions are optional.

If you don't think that's good eating, shame on you for six weeks.

I'm going to Philly in a couple weeks for four days, and you can be sure I'm getting a cheesesteak every single day for lunch. Oh baby!

you gotta have the onions, mushrooms, and the green peppers and the right ammount of seasoning...mmmmMMMM
saying a cheesteak isnt good is like saying sex is overrated 😕

Damn these cheese steak threads. I'm craving one so badly right now. All I'm having for lunch is pasta salad.

Yeah, but if Accipiter22 does sex like he does cheesesteaks (does it all himself and has lots of cheese), then he may agree that sex is overrated.

I look down on the rest of the country for not having immediate access to cheesesteaks.
What part of the country doesn't have immediate access to cheesesteaks? It is possibly the #2 most common food in restaurants, following the hamburger. You'd have to live in a very small village not to have at least one restaurant in town that serves them.

Cheesesteak from Philly isn't that good.

Excuse me?! There is no other place in the nation, in the world, in the universe that can make a cheesesteak sandwhich like the City of Philadelphia and that includes NYC. Period. The Atlantic City area also has awsome places. Its in the bread and you can't get bread for these steak sandwhiches outside of the area. I speak with tons of experience.

lol, yeah, and you have to use cheese whiz and catsup, otherwise it's not a cheesesteak, just a steak sandwich with cheese.

As someone who moved from Philly to Texas, you're wrong.

Even though a resturant may have a "cheesesteak" on the menu, it's not a real Cheesesteak.
The biggest diffence for me is the rolls. Steak rolls have to be just right in order to hold everything together. The inside has to be soft enough to soak up the grease but the outside has to be crispy enough so that it doesn't fall apart.

There are some places that get it right but most 'cheesesteaks' are a poor imitation.

Likewise, I wouldn't trust someone in Philly to make a proper Chicken Fried Steak... each part of country has it's own culinary specialty.

I do not think you know what is this cheesesteak you speak of.

lol I'm celibate because I hate sex

prov + oregano + top round

That's the stuff right there. You have to heat the prov on the roll in the oven until the roll gets a little crispy around the edges, cook the beef with oregano and just a bit of garlic. Then put more oregano on the melted prov, pile on the beef, bam. Instant food orgasm.

I like to be open-minded, but putting Cheez Whiz on a yummy steak sandwich is just sad. What a waste of good steak.
