It was a republican cangress that put the bill thru.

It would have not mattered if he vetoed it or not. That bill pased congress with enough support that if clinton vetoed it
It would have went back to congress and congress would have overruled clinton veto. If you want to blame anybody you really need to blame congress on that steaming turd.

It happened with other turds that he ( clinton vetoed ) that congress put thru. the only thing clinton did was he stopped wasting congess's time and not veto it.

Oh wait...I thought the Patriot act was Bush's fault? Didn't Congress get to vote on it? Didn't they pass it overwhelmingly? Wouldn't they have over-ridden a veto? What was the vote numbers again?

I assumed the bulleted form of my post following the similar style of the questions posed by the initial poster, who's post i quoted, would have been self-explanatory. hoping to avoid any further confusion, i decided to add "i havent made up my mind yet." unfortunately, it seems i still managed to confuse some posters. i welcome all constructive criticism on how i might alleviate such unfortunate incidents in the future.

Clinton cut the goverment down that was going to help with the surplus. ( ironic isnt it )

If congress passes the bugets why didnt it happen during reagen / bush years ?

Who pushed the patriot act ??? it was ashcroft. but bush could have vetoed it ... ;) the bad thing about it with a name like that you would have been labeled a terrorist if you did not support it.

I cant find the numbers from the house but the senate passed it with 100%

senate numbers here

if i remember civics correctly i think a 70% passage will override a veto but that has been 15 years ago.

The AT Political Experts in here would never admit that it was the Republican Majority Congress's fault for driving the DMCA through. It clearly has to be Clinton's fault.

You can't have things both ways:p If Clinton wasn't responsible for the DMCA -then Bush isn't for the Partriot act - according to YOUR excuse. You blamed it on Congress. Well - who passed the Patriot Act - Congress. Who passes budgets - Congress. People here keep proclaiming that Clinton balanced the budget but they forget that it was the freshman class of 94 that came in a demanded change....unfortunately now some of them have fallen into the same traps that politicians always fall into when they stay in the game too long or get in too deep.

"driving the DMCA through"?

8/4/98 -- H.R. 2281 called up in House under suspension of the rules -- passed House (amended) by voice vote

9/17/98 -- H.R. 2281 laid before the Senate -- substituted language of S. 2037 amended -- passed Senate by Unanimous Consent -- Senate insists on its amendment and asks for a conference -- Senators Hatch, Leahy and Thurmond named as conferees

Just barely passed there with all the democrats fighting it, eh?

His actions speak louder than words, and so far he has proven to be worthless. His office has commited treason and nothing has happened. Selling out cia agents to further the offices political status. He lied about iraq and nothing has been done. Where are all the weapons mr Bush? He purgered himself infront of congress and the nation about the aluminum rods on the state of the union. Only to blame someone else for the mistake. He then wants to give billions in aid to the same countries that he said supported terrorism. He supports drilling in one of the last places that remains relatively untouched, alaska. He didn't even attend the world summit for reducing world pollution, even though the US is by far the largest polluter in the world. He has allowed millions of people to become unemployed, as the government pays US corporations to move the jobs outside the country. Not to mention that he was never elected for, by the people of the country. He lost the general election, the majority voted for the other guy. Only becoming elected because the supreme court interceeded in a state matter. Voting along party lines, instead of actually thinking about the case. Thus showing poor leadership from the very beginning. Maybe he should have worked it out with the opposistion and found a way the votes could be counted along the lines of the states constitution. Not to say I am suspect of what happened in Florida, but when a blood relative is govenor, and the state secretary worked on his campaign, only to have a massive voting problem. It makes me wonder. Especially since the govenor stated he would overturn the voters will in florida if the other guy won. Most likely his supporters only like him since he is republican and they vote party lines in every election.

Theres so much bullshit, deceit, paranoia, and outright lying in that post i wont even bother replying to it by specific. Instead, ill generalize it all as such: The 'Hate Bush' meeting is in Hollywood, not Anandville.

The White house is pushing for the Patriot act. while the DMCA was pushed thru by congress. Now if clinton thought of or pushed the DMCA thru then you would have a point but he did not. The DMCA was going thru no matter what he did.

Also the patriot act also has a time limit on it while the DMCA does not. much easier to push a bill thru in a time of crisis with a time limit on it.

Now if patriot act 2 without time limits went thru a dem controled congress you would have a valid point. even when the patriot went thru congress was split almost down the middle just favoring the dems.

Let's be clear:

Clinton signed BS like the Defense of Marriage Act and the DMCA.

Bush signed BS like the Patriot Act and atrocious budgets.

Is there any doubt which President is bigger tool?

The good thing with Bush is that he seems to do what he thinks is right, which is a radical departure from the previous president who apparantly would constantly look at poll numbers before deciding what to do... not that I agree with everything Bush does or disagree with everything Clinton did.

why do people like bush?
Because they don't want to admit that they were so desperate to beat the Dems that they lowered themselves to vote for the Dub. Come on, if given the choice with a guaranty to win the Republicans would have voted for McCain over Bush. That way they wouldn't have to kid themselves and everyone else when they say he is an adequate President

I encourage you to do a search on Clintons Anti-Terrorist and Effective Death Penalty Act which is worse than the PA by far.. the PA was written by clintons justice and a continuation of the Anti-Terrorist and Effective Death Penalty Act which gives the attorney-general the power to use the armed services against the civilian population, and also selectively suspends Habeas Corpus for whom ever the attoney general decides.

I remember when he passed it and said to critics at the time :

"There is nothing patriotic about our pretending that you can love your country but despise your government."

Whatever police state Bill.
Need we delve into waco and rubi ridge assasinations and un-investigation?

This is funny as hell.

These people are so pathetic that you ask a question and they cannot even control themselves, they must proclaim thier hatred for the man.

Myself I've always thought that hatred was wasteful and reserved for the mentally or socially inadequate.
