I've been on the fence between Hillary and Obama for the past couple months, so the Iowa caucus results don't really matter a whole lot to me beyond pure political speculation and augury, especially considering that I can't cast a single vote till the general election and I'd probably vote for any of the D candidates except Edwards over any of the R candidates except McCain (NJ has a closed primary and I'm not affiliated with a political party, so I can't vote in the NJ primary).

but I've been really surprised by the, like, vehement, vitriolic, and kinda personal response to Hillary losing instead of maybe excitement over Obama winning the first round.

She is cold and calculating, seemingly running for power alone rather than on the basis of any principles. I think Chris Matthews summed it up well when he said her concession speech seemed mechanical, like every word she said was put through focus groups and was geared to generate a certain response in certain people. She is also the presumed nominee, so naturally she becomes the target of a lot of negativity from people who don't see her as being able to win the general election.

A good politician doesn't come across as too much of a politician. Take Bill Clinton, he may have been calculating but that man can work a room like nobody I've ever seen. Or Bush, with that straight from the heart bullshit, acting tough and whatnot. These are characters, she is more a robot.

The Republirats have been generating negative propaganda against her for almost two decades and many now hate her with a passion.

And many democrats, myself included, have never forgiven her for pandering to GWB on the Iraq war back when it was popular.

But none the less, the more rational tend to see her as just another pandering politician and we just don't understand why she should generate extra special hatreds.

And for most democrats, she is infinitely better than any current Republican in the 08 field and not all that different than Obama or Edwards. The more liberal like myself may have preferred a Kucinich or even Dodd, but its not likely to happen.

Hillary is the most "fake" person I have seen in my life.

Everything about her image and her philosophy is poll-driven. She is a power hungry bitch...All she cares about is gaining power, and she is willing to say and promise anything to get it. Obama is light years ahead of her. He genuinely cares about this country, and isn't driven by 50+ campaign advisers.

Hillary lacks the charisma and public speaking prowess that her husband was famous/infamous for.

She also has waffled on two very important issues:

1. The Iraq war, she voted for it, but tries to act like she's anti-war to please everyone.

2. Universal healthcare - She went from supporting Hillary care to taking large donations from the health insurance lobby. How can she support Universal Healthcare and take money from companies that don't want it?!

Even more important:

We need to break the Bush-Clinton dynasty, I don't think anyone from those two families should be allowed to run for president for the next 100+ years.

John edwards got smart vote , Obama gets the celeberty support along with celeberty idiots fan support and also he gets some smart votes who think he can actually channel the republicans, Hilary got the stupid people votes that want the economy to stay the same. She doesn't channel the republican and she always waits to be told what to do. John Edwards is just smarter.

Hilary is no bill :!

Edwards only took 14.5K form health care bastards! Hilary takes hundreds of thousands from them.

I can't believe people from NY voted that transvestite into office. Boy, she played those folks. She doesn't give two licks about anyone but herself. I'd rather Bill be president again than Hillary.

She comes across as heartless and phony. Also, in my mind, I can't shake the allegations of murder associated with the Clintons. I can see her ordering the hits. Also, she has some crazy ideas like that thing about giving every child born in the US 5000 dollars. She seems to have no understanding of the present financial situation of the US. She is scary in every way.

How appropriate that you can't even type the word correctly.

The woman is a scheming politician...
plus, she is getting the support of murdoch, which only means she will continue where george bush left off....oh yea, not to mention the fact that both families, clinton and bushes, are all in bed together. So yea, i can't imagine 8 more years of this regime.

Murdoch fund-raiser for Clinton creates buzz
Outrage, confusion in political circles over media mogul?s decision

NEW YORK - Media mogul Rupert Murdoch, whose Fox News Channel and other conservative news outlets have been skewering Hillary Rodham Clinton for years, will host a summer fund-raiser for the senator, mystifying some observers and enraging others

Aside from the fact that her voice is completely monotone and annoying, she never did her research on the Iraq war and let her emotions get ahead of her. She changes her "look" based on public opinion, a person shouldn't have to change who they are in order to appeal to the public base.. Plus she takes lobbyist money..

Sounds like he wants her to win the nomination because he considers her unelectable...

I have to wonder if capitalizt knows a fake when he sees one. Hillary may be a focus group phony, but she is easily out phonied by both Giuliani and Romney. As for Obama, he may talk a good line but he has done doodle in the Senate. And when it came to standing up up Bush and stopping the telco immunity, Obama was MIA and it was Dodd who showed the leadership.

As for Huckabee, his anti science religious fundamentalism is likely to wreck his chances. While I don't like most of his views, there is something genuine about McCain even though
GWB has ended up playing his principles like a violin.

But the biggest phony of the decade award has to go to GWB. At least there is something honestly evil with Cheney.

4. She is not right of Genghis Khan

5. She is not a man.

I don't hate her at all. I don't think she'd make a horrible president either.

I do think she is completely about the pursuit of power, I do think she's doing it solely on the coattails of her "husband", Bill Clinton. I think she's essentially the democrat version of GW. She crafts all her policies and statements solely for the purpose of getting elected. There are no underlying principles...just the pursuit of power.

I also want our next president to not have the last name of Bush or Clinton for the first time in 20 years.

I definitely hate Edwards though...
