Why do people have to give uman characteristics to everything around them? It's annoying, really.

Either:
1) the guy is pulling people's chains and purposefully calling humans 'umans' just to irritate people, or
2) the guy is a total idiot.

I'm leaning towards #2

If you're going to correct his grammar then at least get yours right. It should be:

"WTF is an uman?"

Anyway, I too would like to know why the OP keeps leaving out the letter "h" in words that start with the letter "h".

OP - why do elephants mourn and bury their dead? They're wild animals, how can they show emotion? You are seriously a troll or have some mental disorder.

I second the notion of 1.) trolling or 2.) completely fucking stupid.

Trolling? I don't see why this discussion is not valid?

Then what's an uman? Why do elephants mourn and bury their dead?

OK, fine, if you aren't trolling then that just leaves option 2, you're a complete idiot. Simple enough.

And you still haven't answered the question about dropping the H in HUMAN

People like the OP make me worry about the future of the Human race.

I don't know that. But I don't think it has to do with a feeling of sadness. However, I have to read up on that since I'm not familiar with that kind of behavior.

You have yet to define "uman". It invalidates your entire OP.

Sure they do. Emotions aren't anything special.

Except for those animals whose brains aren't complicated enough to require them, emotions are how nature makes animals do practically everything they do. It's advantageous for social animals to form close groups. The way to accomplish that is to make them want to hang around each other. The way to make them want to hang around each other is to make them love each other. It's advantageous for animals to compete with each other at times. The easiest way to do that is to make them get mad at each other when certain conditions are met. If conditions are such that an animal is without protection it should desire to change it's situation. The easiest way to do that is to make the animal afraid and only allow that fear to be alleviated when the animal has reached a certain level of security. The video of the puppy is an example of this last I think.

The point is that these same emotions are present in humans and human's pets and they serve exactly the same purposes in all cases. If you call into question the validity of a pet's emotional reactions which, regardless of breeding, are still in place and still serving the animal as a survival mechanism, then you call into question human emotion and by extension the very concept of emotion itself because your own emotion was bred into you as surely as that of any pet, just not by any higher intelligence.

I'm not sure why you guys are falling for this.
You should realize by now that with every response he's giggling like a schoolgirl and getting closer to climax.
DON'T FEED THE TROLLS.
By some chance that he's actually serious, I hope he never has children because they would be some f*cked up kids.

Hence my posts above. I changed my mind though, he isn't an idiot. He's an idiot that is trolling.

and it depends on the animal and the behavior. think it was in one of dawkins books, many apparently intelligent looking behaviors are based on rather simple and vague rules, which you can test. it leads to certain birds who are actually pretty dumb, you can swap out their egg with an ever bigger round object and they'll continue to try to sit on it. so for some animals and some behaviors ascribing human like intentions to their behavior is wrong.

OP, you are one wrong "uman." Our kitten puts her face up to the window and looks at us with a sad look when we are outside (she's an indoor cat for now). She purrs and meows when we wake up in the morning.

After carefully reviewing the available evidence, I have come to the conclusion that my original theory about the lack of emotions in animals is flawed. Thank you to all the people who posted in my thread with helpful information about the topic at hand. Special thanks to those people who posted link to reputable sources discussing the issue of animal emotions.

Troll, are you going to explain why you continue to use 'uman' instead of 'human'?

Leave Ray Romano alone!!! Whenever I see the word uman I think of the movie Ice Age.

But seriously.....When I moved in with my girlfriend (now wife) she had a mini schnauzer named Sammy. Every time i'd come home, the dog would bark aggressively at me run away from me and bark some more. This dog just did not like me at all for whatever reason and never allowed me to pet him or get close to him. This went on for almost 3 months. Well one afternoon the dog got loose from the backyard. When I herd some tires screech, I looked out the window Sammy was lying in the street. I thought to myself......great...how am I going to explain this to my wife (she probably thought I was plotting on the dog). As soon as I got out there to see if it was really our dog, Sammy popped up and shot straight to the basement yelping and leaving a trail of blood the whole way down. I'm not sure why he got up when I got there, I thought he was running cause he saw me coming. When I went to go get him, his front right and back paw were pretty bad looking. In a panic not knowing really what to do, I grabbed an old towel to pick Sammy up and he actually let me pick him up!?! Needless to say, I took him to the vet to get treated. Long story short Sammy made a near full recovery but lost the tendons in his front paw that allows him to flex his paw up.

Since then, for the past 2 years when Sammy barks at me it's usually with his nub of a tail shaking and him jumping on me........

I dunno if his change in attitude from aggressive to excited would be considered uman.
