Agree that they're trainable? Yes. Agree that that makes dogs smarter? No. Chimps are nearly impossible to train, and they're probably smarter than half the people who post here.

ehh...cats are ok...but I like dogs better.
Alot of people are under the impression that cats are smarter than dogs, mainly because dogs LOOK stupid. But this really isn't the case. Cats may be able to learn some things...but dogs are MUCH better at being trained than cats. Even at the household level. Dogs can learn words. My parent's cats don't even know their own names. They might look up if you yell it at them, but if they do they probably would have looked up no matter what you yelled. If a dog does something bad, and you scold it enough times for it, it will learn not to do it. Cats on the other hand, never learn. At home, my parents cats will jump up on the table during dinner. You throw it down. It jumps right back up. Over and over again, until you throw it in a room and shut the door.

ehh not really we had 4 cats at 1 point and you couldent tell. Dogs on teh other hand make all your stuff smell like DOG and thats not good

chimps impossible to train? lol that's hilarious. you only think that because they aren't a common pet and aren't easily amenable to a useful role in society. also, dogs have been bred for hundreds of years to be docile animals. chimps, on the other hand haven't.

Tho i dont hate dogs cats definitly dont suck. most dogs suck major anus. they either are always barking or sh!ting someplace. id say 90% of dogs suck where about 20% of cats suck

Nice way of dodging the issue. Temperament != intelligence. Training chimps takes hundreds of hours and many months in lab environment. The fact that they can't be bribed in 2 days with a piece of bacon doesn't make them stupider than a dog.
THey throw up fur balls everywhere and some of them are hateful little animals. Not all are bad, but most are...
And yes, I had a cat when I was younger which my parents now own. It's an annoying little animal. Dogs are the way for me.

if you care properly for your cat hairballs are a rarity... my sisters cat is one mean mother...but at least you know where you stand with mean cats. they don't turn on their owners as some dogs are known to do.. most cats bad? depends on your opinion of bad... All dogs are stupid.

I have two cats, and aside from the constant shedding, they're great.
Most dogs annoy me as they are constantly in your face. My cats want attention, but they're generally less invasive.

But that's missing the point of the original argument. He said dogs are smarter because they're easier to train. I could probably train a retard to run at a dinner bell a lot faster than I could a Harvard professor. Does that make the professor less smart? If you're going to assert that dogs are smarter than cats, you need a better reason than easy trainability.

deafening barking and scrambling OR a cat that continues sleeping
-cats are small and furry. hella cute, and they go "meow". none of which a dog can stake claim to (big, ugly, and go woof really loudly)
-you have to walk dogs and pick up their shiz. cats walk around your house, sleep, and shiz in their box.
-cats a smaller and therefore have smaller accidents.
and cats are more independant. however, i dont think cats are smarter... just better pets.

Because people are different and have different likes and dislikes. Some of you answered honestly, but to those that rave on and on about how horrible cats are, you did not answer the posted question, you just got ugly and disrespected those who happen to like them.
