Not even, it's probably going to tip over if you try resting that on your lap since the iPad is heavier than the keyboard. There is no mouse, so you have to use the screen for that. It's an ergonomic nightmare. You'd be better off just accepting that a tablet is not going to replace a laptop, and using it as intended, instead of losing the sleekness of a tablet just to get a really crappy netbook.

I've been using my docked Asus Transformer all evening quite comfortably on my lap while relaxing on the sofa, it has an awesome track pad and happily uses USB and bluetooth mice for those who dislike the track pad.

My iPhone and my Ipad does completely different things. I use my iPhone for communications oriented purposes and grab and go information access. I do not consume books, movies, videos, magazines, type up stuff, etc on my iPhone unless it's absolutely necessary.

You using your smartphone in this way ... is a bit like wearing high heels while running on a treadmill, when you haven't experienced what a pair of Asics can do.

But since practically tablets have 3G/4G capability, what is the difference between a tablet and a smartphone apart from a larger size, more powerful processor, greater storage, etc.? A tablet alone can be used for telephony, and all one's telephone calls could be made from an iPad/iPad2 or a Galaxy Tab.

What's the difference between Godzilla and your Chihuahua? This is not a trick question.

So what you're saying is if the iphone didn't have such a tiny screen you wouldn't need to have an ipad as well.

Maybe you should try one of the 4.3" android devices.

Maybe you should try one of the 7" Android devices that has 3G capabilities. It would go well with your man-purse or cargo-shorts.

lol I don't get you netbook lovers, why are you all so bent out of shape over people preferring a touch screen device that isn't running a bloated OS? I don't know why anyone would use a netbook for any form of serious computing, that's what desktops and desktop replacement laptops are for. If you can have all the functionality you need with just a tablet, then a tablet is good for you.

And for the last time, they (tablets and netbooks/laptops) are not one and the same and should not be compared as such.

Of course they're not the same , just like telegrams and emails aren't the same.

Tablet are eating the netbooks lunch however a will continue to do so until the netbooks starve. Admitting superiority of one form over another is especially hard for brand loyal brain dead consumers. Hey, something better tha your netbook is available, get over it!

Nice strawman.
I said that a tablet is not going to replace your laptop if that laptop is your primary computer. Sounds like you aren't debating that.

No, a tablet is not going to replace a laptop if you don't have another main computer. However, a netbook would be almost as poor of a replacement. My argument is aimed at those who keep saying "Why get a tablet when you can get a $300 netbook?" Clearly those people don't see the advantages of tablets and/or perhaps they do all their heavy computing on atom machines...

I don't get the question, but I would state that (to me at least) if one has an iPad with 3G/4G, an iPhone is not needed.
