Why do people believe in God if there's no valid proof?

The vast majority of people living on this earth believe in some kind of God or supernatural powers. There's no proof to back up their beliefs.

So are they wrong in believing? Or are they onto something that the rest of humanity just don't understand?

Why do people keep posting the same type of question over and over? Now *that* is a question worth asking.

Because there will always be idiots who believe in god - so the question will always be asked.

Believing in invisible men in the sky is like believing in intelligence on ATOT. There's no evidence to support it, but some people are desperate enough to convince themselves that it exists.

Oh god, not again. Even **I** have gotten sick of these threads (finally).

Conclusion: Some people are retards, others aren't. You think the people on the other side are the retards. Both sides are right about that one.

And there will always be idiots who say there is no god.

And there will always be non-idiots who believe in God, and non-idiots who don't believe in God.

What's your point?

it's called fucking faith

don't need evidence if you've got faith and I don't under this statement "are they onto something that the rest of humanity just don't understand"

most of humanity is religious in some form or fashion

why? I'm not going to go into it because flame wars generally devolve into idiotic mud slinging, and if you're into that type of material, I advise trolling the P&N forum

In my opinion...

Many people feel a need to have their lives mean more or be part of some big plan. Some people's psyche cannot handle the fact that you are born, live and then are gone forever.

This is why I believe in the Cylons. Beware the second coming (and hot skin jobs)!

Let them believe what they want to believe. It gives them piece of mind when they die.

There are some people that believe and there are some that don't but the one thing we can all agree on is that your and moron.

Proof that God exists is the fact that the whole universe exists, and that we exist. Even the concept of time did not exist before the universe. Something supernatural had to create all of that. In a 4D world, there has to be a beginning and an end, the same way a 2D world would have a start x/y and a end x/y or a 1D world would (the line has to stop at some point and have two ends). Now God lives in a world beyond 4D and created this 4D world we live in. Even if the big bang would of caused the universe, what triggered it, and what created the very dimension it happened in?

Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."

3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.

2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

This. It's actually been found that there's a distinct part of the brain that makes you feel that you feel this deeper significance of the big plan.

And one must understand that one of human's greatest desires is to find a sense of coherency within themselves. Hence before we had science and empirical evidence to explain away the world around us to provid us that coherency, civilizations universally made up the most imaginitive stories to fill that void.
