Why do people become morons when they enter an airport?

I love seeing people not able to find their gate/terminal. They're marked with letters and numbers as tall as I am!

In short, you sound like a bit of an asshat that worries way too much about everyone else. Travel a little more and you'll probably barely notice where you are let alone everyone else. Relax and try to make the best of it.

In short you don't know anything about me 😛

more power to you if you want to stand in line for 20 minutes to end up in a preassigned reserved seat, I couldn't care less, I just don't understand it

And I allready travel enough, thank you

Flying is the most inconvenient way of travelling nowadays with all the security bullsh*t and delays.

Well how about the airlines themselves? I still can't understand the "group" boarding thing. It's completely random. Yesterday I flew from Orlando, was put in the 2nd to last row (I hate United and their economy plus bullcrap, other airlines just give everyone more room), but my boarding group was the last to get on the plane. So of course there's a long line remaining from group 1 and 2 because those idiots can't put their shit away and sit down without it taking 10 minutes. Board from the back to the front, what a novel concept!

?

United always boarded back to front when I flew.

First class and business first, then people with small children.

Last few rows, then next few, etc etc...

I've found that people, even intelligent people, when confronted with a roundabout or computer, are more than willing to take their entire worldy knowledge and throw it out the window. Maybe planes are the same way?

I hate it when people put their bags in the overhead bin sideways so that it takes up as much of the room as possible. I usually end up moving their luggage vertically so that I can fit mine in there as well.

Take that oversized piece of crap to the back of the plane where you belong.
I put in my time and earned enough status to get a seat towards the front with a little extra legroom and I don't want some lazy asshat putting their heavy suitcase in the bin above me. That is where I am going to be putting my stuff so I can access it during the flight if I want to.

Sorry, but that is a big pet peeve of mine. Each seat is allocated plenty of storage space and if each person stored their items in the vacinity of their seat, people would get on an off the plane a lot quicker.

My favorite is when someone from the back decides to stow their stuff in first class and the flight attendant pulls the item and asks over the intercom whose luggage it is and then proceeds to ask them to store it closer to them.

It may be an elitist thought, but I put in 25,000+ miles a year BIS (butt in seat) and want each flight to be as painless as possible. Nothing worse than getting to your seat and finding all of the luggage bins up front full and all of the empty ones in the back (whereas the back of the plane is full and the front is empty).

getting of the plane is also one of these things. The plane has not yet come to a standstill and people are already getting up to get their handluggage. And they just stand there for 15 minutes until they can actually get of the plane. I don't understand why people just not stay seated ....

I'm not sure what's so confusing about all of this. Some people prefer to stand after a flight, and some prefer to remain seated and either wait for the entire plane to empty or wait for their turn. It's called preference. I don't understand why people stay seated when everyone is deplaning, but to each their own.

no they don't prefer to stand, most of them seem afraid that they won't get of the plane and that they will end up in Uzbekistan

Can't you take the Eurostar to London?

Whenever I fly to Poland on Lot to visit the motherland people always clap when we land. My mom explained to me the reason why people clap is because during the days of Communism Lot used to use crappy Russian planes that were notorious for mechanical problems and crashing. People would clap because they were happy that they landed safely 😀

trains in europe rock.

planes are kind of a hassle...especially those large scale airports. Some people do get STUPID in them.

I'd strongly disagree with this, however I'm from the United States and not Europe, so traveling here is generally much longer.

Honestly, how are you able to determine this state of fear among so many from a distance?

Believe it or not but flying is cheaper then the Eurostar, especially when you have to book on short notice like I have to do most of the time

how can you determine that I'm an asshat and the Atlantic is between us, which is, let's be honest even a greater distance?

LOL @ the clapping comment. I was coming home from the Philippines from a business trip on Philippines Airlines, and after we landed in LAX, the people started clapping. I've flown many many times, and that was the first time I saw that.

I do that because I fly Southwest. The whole free seating thing really blows if you're group C or come to boarding gate late, especially for long flights. Considering that Southwest Airline is the largest domestic airline by # of passengers carried it's safe to assume that most people fly Southwest and thus have developed such lining-up mentality.

Lemme guess, you brought this up because of the (relatively) new roundabout in Anchorage, eh? 😛

I've seen some remarrrrrrkable driving on that thing.

well, I fly Ryanair once in a while which also has the free for all seating. I really can't be bothered to stand in line

I think I realized something because of this thread, I really hate standing in line 😛

Haha, my parents did this a week ago when I went to to New York City. I told them why do you want to stand in line and go "relax" in the airplane. I'd rather wait outside and be the last person on.

-some people are convinced that they are in a five star resort the moment they enter a plane and start nagging the flight attendant for stupid stuff all the time. You are in cattleclass just like the rest of us so stop pretending that you are the sjeik of Brunei in your private jumbo jet.
I had this lady with a baby on my last flight and as soon as she got near her seat, which was separated from her baby's seat. She begin to talk really loud and told people to move. She had this smug look on her face and continued to loudly say, "I HAVE A BABY!".

I shouldn't have to listen to some dumb bitch because the airlines didn't sit her baby next to her.

-last week week people started clapping hands when the pilot landed the plane, wtf is that all about?

I've heard about that in another thread, but haven't seen it first hand. It sounds really dumb. I wonder if they clap for the cabby?

people that are separated by only a couple of seats and you can see the horror of this situation their eyes.
I can understand this between parents and little children but adults

They've been doing that for the past couple of years. I can't remember the last airline that I was on that boarded via rows, but I do get forced to fly United or US Airways most of the time. They both suck.

So what? i'd rather not sit with a stranger for the flight when i'm with a friend.. Whats the big deal with that?

Trust me, they were morons when they woke up that morning, morons while they were getting dressed and morons while they drove to the airport. When they leave the airport they'll be morons on the drive home, they'll be morons as they watch tv and they'll be morons later when they sleep.
