Why do pens suck these days?

I have been wondering about this myself. I have even been dabbling in fountain pens in my attempts to find a decent one. I have been using Pilot G2's for a while and will continue to do so until my current supply runs out, but I don't plan to acquire any more after that.

This is where I purchased my latest fountain pen from. A good store with good service.

I just need to find a good ball-point as some fountain pens can be problematic in flight or other low-pressure environments. 😛 I am on the verge of signing up at a pen forum to ask for advice, due to not finding any that meet my needs thus far.

Always preferred Parker (had a nice thick golden one) and Schaeffer ballpoints to Papermate but all three brands used to get stolen regularly from my desk. :frown: A couple of days ago I opened a ~4yo box of Papermate stick pens and all were irretrievably dried up. I'm using Lamy Logo Model 205 ballpoints nowadays (leftover from my teaching supplies and a gift from the Storz Company). Probably still have a couple of Papermates like the OP pic packed up in a box somewhere.

Some of the best feeling pens i've ever used are Montblanc tho they are pricy.

Meh. I could give a damn about pricy. Good pens is what I crave.

There was a hack posted a while back about using the Montblanc refills in a G2 (I think) body. All that was required was snipping the plastic tail end off a tiny bit. I tried it out (last year or so) and it worked ok, but, can't say it was anything special. Wasn't worth the $10-20 or so for the refills, imo.

No Mosh...but I did come in here thinking it would be about the ass whoopin the Leafs gave the Pens last night.

If you like fine tip pens you can get some good ones at Jetpens.com

I've got a Pilot Hi-Tec-C Cavalier 0.3mm pen I've been using at work for a while now. I'll probably give a Pentel Slicci a try soon since the silver finish is wearing off the Pilot.

/Fixed

I has good pens. It was both present tense.

well i read it as "good penis is what i crave" so it would probably be ok to accept the edit on that one.

Pen sized a common theme around here? 😉

Common pen = Uniball Micro - .2mm. Good pressure without the hassle of a ballpoint!

Drawing pens = Nestler Tech (cheap throwaways), and Rotring rapidograph (refillable/cleanable) for drawing "engineer perfect" lines. 😀 Besides having an ultrasonic pen tip cleaner sitting on your desk sounds "tech" as it gets. 😛
