I love the Cross pen that I was given as a gift several years ago. Nice weight and it writes really well.

0.4mm Pilot Hi-Tec C. Best ink pen I've used. Love the way it writes and how the ink dries super fast and never bleeds. I hate hate hate G2s because the ink comes out a flooded mess and bleeds really easily through pages. Too bad the hi-tec C's aren't commonly sold in America and can only be found in import shops or online.

I am addicted to Pilot G2's. They have the best click to any pen I have used, and they write very well.

I was going to get some of these mechanical pencils, but 0.3mm? That's awfully un-american.

The best pen ever!!! Impossible to find now. :(

I love pens too...you're right, they suck now

Fountain pens >>>*. I'd suggest a Mont Blanc, Waterman, or Parker. Paradisepen.com is a good place to start. Make sure whatever pen you get can be filled via an ink well though. I made that mistake when I was just beginning with a high end papermate (never again).

I concur. Blue Pilot G2 05 is my favorite.

Day to day, I like the Pilot Hi-Tec-C .3mm pens (note taking, brainstorming, etc). Other than that, I have a few nice fountain pens when I'm traveling for work (Dunhill, Mont Blanc).

Like most of AT, I don't really "write" too much these days - not on paper at least.

Personally, I blame manufacturers shifting their production to China, home of crappy products...

A good friend has taken up pen/pencil making as a hobby:

I know someone who does this. He comes out with products reasonably similar to those in the thread. They feel nice and smooth, plus are very comfortable!

Does anyone know where to find the Papermate Ultimates? They are among the smoothest pens I've written with.

I used to use F301s all the time until I found a G301. Haven't been able to find any refills, though. I prefer gels, so I just use G2s for now.

Sonofa.... one day after posting in this thread, my fountain pen finally bit the dust, although not through any fault of its own. I had the pen in my pocket, and was asked to help lift something heavy up a short set of stairs. This ended up being a little more involved, and ended up with too much pressure resting on that pen. It snapped at the joint between the cap and the pen itself, the only semi-exposed peice of plastic. Note to all future AT'ers: Fountain pens are not designed to hold up the weight of a refrigerator. :/

So I'm in the market again for a new one...

Yeah. G2 wins. If any of you have done HS Debate, these were THE PENS to get. Best flow pen ever. If you want to keep up with fast paced notes, this was the way to go. Loved them so much, I would pick up a pack of 5 different colors and my notes in college ROCKED. Good for speed note taking too. I'm happy they stock G2s in our supply cabinet at work now (unfortunately only red ones).

Like others said, I do like Pilot G2 pens very much. Love the way they felt in my hand and how they handle the task.

<<---- just bought 2 packs of G2 pens from OD ($10 off $10 coupon).
