Roaming cats suck, but the spoiled ten year olds are worse. You can kill cats if they destroy your property. Kids? Lay a finger on them and you'll be sued and tossed in jail. Both deserve death.

What do you expect from a thread where the OP thinks his type of domesticated animal is superior to anothers domesticated animal.

Cats are supposed to be outside, especially at night. Besides if the cat wanders into your yard and the dog is there, the cat is going to leave there pretty fast.
Cats are NOT SUPPOSED to be outside. If they roam into my yard and become a constant nuisance I am going to trap it and you will never see it again. Go ahead, let your cat roam.

I don't know what the OP is thinking, but I don't think my dometicated animal (dog) is superior to anyone else's domesticated animal.
All I could do make sure that it stays on my property, and I did just that. That's why it irks me when someone else doesn't have the same respect.

He's not a horrible person. He did the humane and legal thing and brought the animal to the SPCA, where it can be given another chance at getting an owner that can care for it.
Sort of like if you have kids with deadbeat parents that don't feed them and don't care for them, the state will step in and take the children away. Sure, the deadbeat parents hate that, but it's in the kids' best interest.

I would like to know this also.
At what point did it become Ok that someone elses pet is aloud in MY yard?? Stupid things jump on MY car and leave marks. I'm always having to hit the breaks or swerve so I dont hit the dumb things. So it's not safe for one. The piss on other peoples things and crap on other peoples property. Why does YOUR pet get to wander around without a leash? I would honestly like to know why society has aloud this. Any pet no matter what it is should only be aloud on the owners property or on a lease or in a cage. Some new laws should be made.

No? Because you clearly think that you as a person are better than people who own other domestic animals.

I don't understand what people are so upset about with outside cats? How the fvck does a cat destroy your property???? A dog will tear your sh!t up if it gets out, but a cat?

I can't believe that so many people talk about shooting a cat if it did this or that. I don't know when it became "cool" to say that. I think most of it is just talk, but I wonder...
Anyway, it would take one sick fvck to really shoot one.
*shrugs* Our neighbors on both sides where I grew up had dogs. Our area also had several wild animals that would have eaten cats. Yet we had three that came and went as they pleased. One got hit by a car once and it was sad, but it happens. We went out and got another. Never had a problem with the cats going into the neighbors' yards at all.Originally posted by: 91TTZ
They wander into other people's yards and damage their property.Originally posted by: preslove
Because they like to be outside? Because keeping them inside often makes them crazy? To kill rodents? Because they're freaking cats?
They often get run over while trying to run across the street.
Other animals such as dogs tend to tear them apart, especially when the cat runs into the yard. My friend has a doberman that used to tear the cats to pieces by violently shaking its head. I have it on video somewhere around here, I have to look for that tape. The best part is that it's 100% legal, as the cat wandered into a fenced in yard that contained the dogs.

That's a risk one takes with outdoor cats. Deal with it.Originally posted by: preslove

Except I have evidence.
You claim that cat owners are "emotional wrecks", and that dog owners--as a whole!--are "more responsible." You once again claim that cat owners are "emotionally unstable", and prone to "stock up on cats"--unlike the rational dog owners. You claim there are a "huge number" of cat fanatics with 20, 40, 80+! cats. You enjoy the videotape that was made of your friend's Doberman ripping cats apart.
What am I left to conclude but that you have some sort of bizarre elitist mentality about your choice of pet? Your posts are just strange. You make multiple wild claims that have no resemblence whatsoever to real life, and you obviously nurse some sort of strange grudge against cats in general--perhaps the reason why your view of the world is so colored.
Seek help, dude. Irrational bigotry is no longer a family value.

Why do people let cats roam around? Because people have always let them roam around. Because in the industrial age and before there was no such thing as sanitation or pest control. Rats were abundant in towns and cities - they ate the food, and carried disease, and so people kept cats to control the rats. People have always had cats, and they have always let the roam around.
So yes, they are supposed to be outside.
It's one thing to let the cats out in areas where there is lots of room. In the country, etc. I don't recall ever seeing a cat of ours in our front yard (house was set maybe 50 feet back from the road, back yard was over 1,000 foot from house to riverbank, cats just went back towards the river) and we had enough space that the rarely left our yard. One did follow us into the neighbor's yard when we were talking with the neighbor and was rewarded with a personal encounter from the neighbor's Airdale. Wasn't cheap to patch up the cat (wasn't terribly expensive either), but we sure as hell didn't blame the dog. Dogs eat cats, that's what they do. And the cat should have known better.Originally posted by: Ronstang

probably the same reason dog owners let their mutts roam the neighborhood and crap in the neighbor's yard
