So... Why did you join? For me, it was because I needed help putting my first computer together.

Not sure if this is a repost, but I searched(not that that means anything) and couldn't find anything.

First sysopt.com fell apart under new management, then AGN3D imploded, then I made my way here.

I needed something to do while I waited for my bosses to stop dragging their feet.

Cause i like hardware.

I can't remember my post, but i think the majority of my initial posts were questions.

Now i've spent the last couple years answering questions or commenting on them...

I was trying to put together an old desktop for my daughter, needed a couple of parts, so I did a search for "Computer hardware for sale" or something like that.
One of the search results was AT FS/FT Forums.
I was impressed with all the low prices there, I registered, started a buying frenzy that lasted a good long while.
It was about a year ago I clicked the link to ATOT, just bored I guess. Spent a couple hours reading the threads and have been hooked on OT ever since!
I rarely visit FS/FT any more, but that's only because I pretty much stopped doing any systems builds, though I still enjoy tinkering with older laptops at times, so I check in there occassionally.

I wasn't happy with my POS Packard Bell 150MHz Pentium, 32 MB RAM, 1MB built-in videocard. I did some research about building your own computer, followed some links, and I found this place.

My transition went General Hardware -> Hot Deals -> OT. I think everyone has spent their time in Hot Deals...

I was an AGN'r and Anandtech was the enemy. AGN bit the dust and the enemy became my home. ATOT was my last stop after I quit having the upgrade bug in the FS/T and Hot Deals forums.

I was a member at ArsTechnica and was getting tired of the people that were posting over there, found this site and lurked for awhile.

Joined when I decided to build my first PC, instead of buying a Compaq/HP/Dell/etc.

Been here ever since.

I was trying to tweak my cheap computer so I could get faster framerate playing Quake/QuakeII over modem.

I was introduced to Anandtech some years ago. A buddy of mine showed me the hot deals forum. I browsed the hot deals forum for about 6 months, before my friend convinced me that "off topic" was the place to go. I lurked for about a year before joining.
