why did lox eat through plastic plate?

LOX is scary stuff, from wikipedia:

Due to its cryogenic nature, LOX can cause the materials it touches to become extremely brittle. Liquid oxygen is also a very powerful oxidising agent: organic materials will burn rapidly and energetically in liquid oxygen. Further; if soaked in LOX some can detonate unpredictably on subsequent contact. Petrochemicals often exhibit this behavior, including asphalt.

Probably shouldn't use this stuff to cook with, even if it does save time.

LOL. Funny stuff everybody. But is there a real answer? i don't think the weight is the culprit -- even plates sitting flat on the bottom of the fridge were broken through. Could Mercury be the reason? Any chemists here?

But it can light a charcoal grill in 2 seconds :)
