Does anyone know what ingredient there is in smoked salmon that could eat through clear plastic disposable plates?
We just put together a bagels and lox and cream cheese breakfast. We made up plates of food for the breakfast the night before. Some plates had lettuce and tomato, some plates had onions and tomatos, and some had rolled up slices of smoked salmon with grape tomatos in the center. All plates were on clear plastic disposable plates.
By morning, all 9 plates of smoked salmon were cracked right through in the center, and none of the plates of vegetables had broken. When I arrived in the morning at 7am to take the plates out of the fridge and put them on the tables, I saw they were cracked and put new plastic plates underneath the broken plate to reinforce them, and I put them out on the tables. We ate the bagels at about 9am.
After it was over, at about 12pm, I saw that the new plates underneath the salmon plates were also broken through.
What is there in lox that seems to eat through plastic plates?
