Stop Drop and Roll album. It is like a totally awesome, kick ass, giggle out loud at how good it is album. So when I found out that the group is really Green Day in disguise I was puzzled as to how a group of musicians talented enough to make this album could put out songs that sucked as hard as Wake Me When September Comes. The conclusion I have reached is that Green Day hated America for awhile and recorded Wake Me as a way of hurting us. Now they seem to have gotten over it.

Thoughts?

Green Day hates you, and the fact that you think you are America.

I'm sorry, but if I want to learn the latest political news, my first choice isn't stupid ass greenday.

I actually find it scary that bands/actors/athletes can have such a large impact on the way dumb, young people think. Don't vote or backup anything based off what some stupid band sings about.

You think anyone's politics are really swayed because a couple of musicians had a political thought and wrote a song about it? They're artists. Commenting on society is what artists are supposed to do. Just because you don't agree with their message doesn't mean that anyone with a position to speak to a lot of people should shut up because they're not "experts." Get off your high horse.

Yes, I do feel that way, hence the reason I replied to the thread. There are a vast number of highly stupid people in this country that idolize people that have no reason being idolized.

And I'll clarify my statement: I don't care what your lyrics are, but when you go on interviews and tv in general, keep your retarded conspiracy theories in your own crazy head. Its one thing to write a catchy pop single about how America is the worst country evar omg....but its another thing to go on a campaign about shit you don't even understand.

You can hate Bush or whoever all you want, but your reasoning shouldn't be "I hate Bush cause of that one cool greenday song"

Another thing I despise is hypocritcal 'stars' that will gladly take millions for doing things that they are supposedly "against". Greenday hates America and Bush, but gladly took hundreds of millions touring/selling here. System of a Down hates America, just not when they're making a shit load of money off it. George Clooney is anti-gun, but has made millions portraying a soldier/hitman/criminal with guns-a-blazing.

/rant

And just for a laugh, HERE is a link to something that relates to what i just rambled on about.

So, if they took no money and were poor you would respect their message? Give me a fucking break, you're just making up stupid reasons to hate them and silence their message because you don't agree with it. Nothing more.

It's a free country...or at least it used to be. They can say whatever they want. Obviously some people agree with the message, like the band, or like the music or they wouldn't have sold any albums.

Added somethings in there :p

 Thanks.

BTW-The day we stop questioning our leaders and their policies is the day we become a police state. Jesus, you'd think by reading some of these responses that they would be okay with arresting the band members and throwing them in jail for writing music that shows our president in a bad light.

Green Day used to be a punk band (sort of, depends who you ask). Punk used to be about making statements (political or societal commentary).

I still think Kerplunk is the best they put out, followed closely by Insomniac (if you're only familiar with the singles from that album, those arent nearly the best songs on it). I also like Shenanigans, which is a B-sides comp. Says a lot about what they chose to leave off of some of their newer albums, arguably the best material.

American Idiot is basically a poorly executed concept album. Warning was sort of a weird album, really didn't make a whole lot of sense.
Of course "their best record" is obviously a matter of subjective taste, but "Warning" is by far my favorite album of theirs.

meh...that last album was good. do not really care what people say. It was not a stance on how to be anti american, it was a stance to tell americans to smarten up and do something about what they think is wrong. You can't just relay on Mr. Bush to do everything since he blows and that is the whole point. You hvae to take your own stance and be proactive. That sums up the whole album. It's probably the closest thing to punk that was released as mainstream in a while.

I mean, just TRY to get them to re-distribute their wealth to the masses. You'll find they're as Capitalistic as the next Corporate Whore.

As is the whole media industry. They are amazing in their hypocracy.

Where did I say they shouldn't be allowed to do it? All I'm saying is that its sad that a bunch of idiots who didn't graduate high school have such a large impact on the minds of other idiots in the country. Your political/social beliefs should not come from greenday.

And if they were so "F Bush" why don't they take the millions they've made trying to bring about change? Or not tour/sell here all together as a protest? Because they don't really give a shit, they're just doing it to sell records.

I loved American Idiot, and it's not anti-USA, keep your flag emblazened panties unwadded. It was anti-establishment, anti-dumbya, anti-current fucktards in office. We really don't have anyone daring to go against the current assholes, without bringing the wrath of rush, hannity, et al, down upon them.

My political/social beliefs don't come from Green Day.

So, anyone who doesn't like Bush or agrees with Green Day is an idiot? Again, you are just bashing them because they don't agree with your beliefs and you don't like the message.

But Green Day Still Suck, and American Idiot is anti-American idiot. In America we value our Idiots and we shouldn't make fun of them. After all, they put most of our presidents in office, and they still buy into the two party system of of Government that provide us with the lesser of two evils.

But if you take politics out of it, Green Day still suck.

LOL...if you actualy listened to the album, you woud have noticed that they say that they are not the people that you should be looking up to for political advice. Are saying for them to take the million sthey earned and use it to say FU Bush? How are they gonna do that? give away their millions to random people? Make an ad campaign for anti bush? how will that help?
