33.6K dial-up was IMPRESSIVE when it first came out!
56K was AWESOME!

If one could fully achieve 56K speeds, its nothing to scoff at as 6-7KB/s is pretty decent even for today. Problem was line quality and distance issues. Ironically I got 48K speeds (not true speeds though) on my lappy when ever I was in an area that could easily have broadband connections while I had only 42K in my home (45K with a desktop modem). Even with those speeds, the best download speeds I got was around 4KB/s which is really 32/36Kb/s.... The internet is painful to browse nowadays with anything less than 40K connection. Try 28K dialup, you'll realize how bad it is..

I had dialup from 1998 (First comp) to 2003
I had Satellite broadband from 2003 (Second Computer) to 2006
As of September im on 1.5/256 DSL via a fiber line to our little community. For now 1.5 is as fast as is availble..

I remember upgrading to 28.8 from 14.4. It was the most amazing thing. Sadly, I don't even remember when we got broadband. Going to 28.8 was more significant than getting broadband.
