This has been an annoyance with every version of Windows I've used at home - 98, 2000 and XP. I have lots of subfolders with dozens of hi-res scans I've taken from 35mm film, broken down into category and subcategory. I'm gradually working my way through them all to prepare them for printing, so it's handy to keep them all on 'thumbnail' view so I can easily see what is contained within the file.
The thumbnail view setting will stay for a while, then go back to 'list, for no apparent reason. It doesn't matter that 'Remember each folder's view setting' is enabled or disabled or that I haven't touched the folder for a few days, bam, it reverts back to List again. Not all subfolders change at the same time and I can see no pattern to what is happening.
Is there a way of forcing Windows to REALLY, REALLY, REALLY remember the view setting? It seems the most basic of ideas and yet one which has never been implemented properly.
