Why can't we have custom icons?

they added like 20 more less than a year ago I think. That was pretty big news then. I think they said no more for a long time.

No way. I use my icon to find myself in threads. I would be unique, except for that new 'offtopic' dude with the same icon... THEIF!

I think the Anand higherups secretly laugh at us for making us use these icons. None of them make any sense. A judge? A surgeon? And all the evil/crying/smiley faces all suck. All of them. It's almost comical.

I actually like the current set up. Makes the forum look more mature.

there will always be whiners who want new avatars
there will always be whiners who want custom avatars

custom avatars defeats the purpose of cache...nothing like downloading 20 or so new images every time you view a different topic
plus the ability to set a custom avatar (as a user) does not guarantee that the user knows how to make an image thats LTE 1k
nothing like getting a huge graphic scaled down
and don't even bother arguing that by saying, "ehh use some server side application to regulate file size and regulate file type and regulate file type"
heres a fact, it would take at least a week to code that up, probably 2, add another 2 weeks for testing and implementing
1 month of coding just to shut up a few whiners
end result, twice the amount of whiners because they're sick of seein janets animated bewbie
