Yeah, a Type-R is faster than maybe a Ferrari 250. Other than that, the only Ferraris it's faster than would be ones missing the engine. Fool. Ferrari is the best, there's no denying it. Ferrari builds beautiful, high-performance cars, which are also very high in manufacturing quality.

Over the past few days, I've seen about 15 Acura Integras, 3 of them being Type-R's... and frankly, they're nothing to brag about. They're ugly cars IMHO, and if you disagree, thats fine, everyone has their tastes, but I personally don't understand how anyone brags about a Type-R Integra slosh pit rice burner.

Type-R's in my opinion are great cars...not quite sure why everyone here despises them so heavily, but we're all entitled to our own opinions.

However, Ferrari 550 Maranello is simply the greatest car ever made, bar-none...hehe:D Being Italian, I do believe that somehow it is my birthright to own one. I have yet to be able to properly explain this logic to a dealer, though. Go figure...

Hey Lozer, are you saying some rice burning type R is faster than a Ferrari F40, F50 or Tesstarossa.

The Type-Rs here (in the USA) look ugly because of the round headlamps... The Asian version have the rectangular headlamps which looks so much better... Yeah, Type-R is a good car, but faster than a Ferrari? You're kidding, right? Wanna know what car I own, Lozer? I own the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI (Tommi Makkinen Edition) back in Malaysia... And Oh, I bought it with my own hard-earned money... :)

City Hunter,

How's the handling on that Lancer IV? What's the difference between the V and VI models?

I hear those are great rally cars.

EDIT: My mistake; how's the handling on your Lancer VI as compared to the V? Got I and V switch'd. And yes, I would buy one if they were sold here in the US.

Rankor, I've never driven an Evo IV, so I do not know from personal experience of the car's handling, but I've read reviews about this car and the critics claimed that the handling is excellent. The differences between the Evo V and Evo VI are that the VI has been fitted with stronger yet lighter components (piston, rocker arms, turbine, etc.), better ventilation and cooling configuration for the brakes, slightly altered and improved aero-dynamics (due to new Homologation regulations of the WRC - World Rally Championship) and some other minor changes. The Evo series are great rally cars, it's too bad they are not sold in the USA.

I tried to explain the exact concept of a Ferarri F350 roasting a Jap car no sweat to this girl in my class who yelled at me for making fun of rice-boys. I told her I would be content with my Taurus SHO until I had the cash reserves to get a truly high-performance machine such as the aforementioned ferarri. For now, the rice boys can pass me all they want :). What's the deal with ricing out cars anyway? I've never understood the concept...

All this Type-R bashing- yes Lozer is a moron, but don't diss the car(the real one). ITRs are some of the most balanced, intense and fun cars in the world. Even for a FWD car you get very little understeer, incredibly quick responses and excellent braking. I bet less than 1% of the people on the forums would be able to use 100% of the ITRs abilities- and I'm not talking about driving down a dragstrip. Take a ITR around a closed circuit or even a secluded back road, and I think almost everyone will understand what the fuss is about. Its not just its superb braking, balanced handling, direct steering, the near motorcyclish bark of the VTEC transistion- its all of them. True, keeping the power on tap requires keeping the rpms on boil- and I mean really really high boiling- but its not for every man. This car is made for die-hard drivers.

Just thought I'd clear that up =. In any case, since starting my new job =D, I've had the opportunity to ride in the M5, Ferrari 355 and 360 Modena as well as every Porsche under the sun. All I can say is that...good jeez- you really do get what you pay for. But boo to all my coworkers who don't trust me to drive their cars.

Lozer:

2700lb car (w/ driver), 11.22 seconds @ 109mph 1/4 mile time would give a rough estimate in the range of 270-370HP, depending on whether you use trap speed or 1/4 time to measure it.

To run 11.22@109mph, you would need Forced Induction or NOS (meaning lowering the compression), thus essentially it becomes nearly the same as a GSR motor w/ lower compression. Whats the point of a special 'typeR' then?

A stock 94 GSR runs 15.6@91mph
At best, a bone stock ITR ran 14.66

And... a Ferrari is a sh!itload of times better than a TypeR. A typeR is the affordable 'wannabe exotic' stock car.
