We essentially already left Afghanistan under Trump. 2500 troops is enough to secure embassies, not enough to control events on the ground or evacuate people. Trump released Taliban leader and 5000 prisoner fighters, twice as many as US troops left behind. So people complaining about Afghanistan collapsing while at same time saying it's a good idea to leave are being silly. If you want to leave, then it's not up to you if Afghanistan collapses.

The chaos outside KBL with afghans trying to get out has seemingly triggered the US to send sorties into and around Kabul to pick people up. You can catch the Mi 17s running about on flight tracking every once in a while. Going to want to have some significant cover for that I presume.

Would suck to be on the receiving end of that. Those SOAR Kentucky boys went through a lot of Somali/Iraqi/Taliban militia. Being on the business end of a pair of mini-guns is a harrowing thought, almost feel bad for them. AF rolled out laser guidance kits for those rockets couple years ago too, now every rocket goes right where you want it. Might be the closest form of CAS there is. Those pilots have brass nuts. Gotta respect those who will roar in at 50ft or less to protect comrades on the ground, becoming bullet magnets in the process. Night doesn't offer the protection it used too.

I hope they aren't needed.

This is pretty accurate from my experience. Empty your pockets and make sure you don't miss your flight home.

To make things worse, Greece's visa process might be a bit more on the "Romantic Comedy" level of detail and organization if you don't know someone who lives there and is within walking distance of a local clerk who knows who to ask about forms and was going there anyway because they wanted to pick up a bottle of grappa for a wedding next saturday

Reverse engineering decades old helicopters probably isn't worth it to them. Given they already ripped off a ton of western technology to build the C919 which is garbage that nobody wants (except for the Chinese companies the gov can make swallow it) I'm not all that concerned.

That is the real "enemy" that left leaning folk should be vary of, the alt right wingers of our respective nations. While it may be illogical in terms of capacity and an infantile disease of mankind, we need to tend to the weak minds in our own midst, cause as Churchill inferred, they have a vote too.

But its chump change, for hookers and blow, compared to the natural resources of agn, so is a "meh" at best.

I'm glad Canada didn't have anything to do with the Vietnam War - It was an internal affair to rid the French and Americans during the Cold War so they could have an independent society. Ho Chi Minh had to go to China to accomplish it. Look at Vietnam today, costing millions of their people lives after 100 years of occupation. Good for them.

South Korea and Taiwan maybe getting ansi considering the out come of this episode. Afghanistan has yet to play out - Hell the Russians where in there and gave up. Just hope it doesn't cost countless more lives over terrorism and the heroin market. Look at Peru, Columbia and Mexico on our door step. All them People and North American deserve better.
