Meh...you are paying more to a company that keeps screwing you over. You deserve the abuse and then some. By BB's logic, the longer they keep dicking you along, the more you will spend.

If I were you, I would've asked for 25% off the purchase or cancel the whole deal when they messed up the first time.

Customers go to Best Buy for Best Buy to profit of them, when I go to that piece of sht Best Buy, I am the one making the profit.
When I walk into my local BB they know they are about to be dominated, especially after I got that piece of sht MOD fired, no one dares to argue with me they just know I am right and bend over before me.

MIDIman, here is some very honest advice for you. I'm a store manager of a Home Depot store in NY, and I've run half a dozen other box stores, and there is a right and a wrong way to deal with this stuff... and you are going about this all wrong.

From here on out, honestly, your only point of contact should be the actual store manager (don't ask for the manager at the store, it's a realistic fact that the actual store manage rcan't be there at all times; anyone under him or her that you deal with will have a lot less capability of making this right), or his/her superior. at this point, as soon as the associate told you the DM was involved, you should have asked for his/her name and direct phone line... it's not too late to do this.

See, the way things go in real life is like this; each chain of command in the store only has so many tools they can use to help appease you before it is forced to go one level higher. In a retail store like this the only real limit placed is dollar value, and who they know to pull strings in getting things pulled together. Since no non-salaried manager wants to have their boss get drawn into it, they will typically find ways to fly under the radar on it, ie under compensating for things so it doesn't raise any flags (ie offering you only $75 for a delayed sizable order, a missed day of work, failure to return calls, general misinformation given to you by staffing, and no real promise of when things will be right).

Now, I have never run a Best Buy store, that I will not claim. However, I myself have literally given away a $10k kitchen because a customer was mistreated and the whole thing dominoed. I highly recommend also that you don't continue telling these people that they can "make it right, or the deal is off". At this point, the profit margin on your order is so low they honestly would probably prefer to have you cancel and walk away. Instead, get the DM's name, and call. Daily. As in, every single day. Also, call the store and ask for their Customer Care line. Every major box has one, it basically conects you to an affiliated company, but is not DIRECTLY owned by the company you are complaining against. What this means, indirectly, is that they care a whoooole lot less about over-compensating you; after all, it isn't their money directly that they are promising you.

If you have any other question, send me a pm, or ask here. I really hate to see big chains ripping people off or treating them unfairly as it makes all of us look really poorly in the end.

this is definitely shens. People like you ARE the ones we call the cops on. If you ever punched somebody in the face in my store you better believe charges would be pressed against you in a heartbeat. People with violent tempers are likely to get absolutely nothing from me, they are a joke.

The part that you made up. Er.... all of it. You sound like a 14 year old. "I fvkcing ripped their faces apart and walked out the door with $700 in my pocket no questions asked."

Yeah...

This is some great advice. Thank you!

For the record, at one point I did ask for the district manager's name and phone number, and the Magnolia manager (Ted) refused.

If I were to move on past this in complaining, would it a) be worth my time, and b) who would I contact?

I do now have the store manager's name, e-mail, and number. But if possible, I'd like to go higher than that.

Yet your back log of the events lists multiple occasions shows a trend of them doing just that.

Even if you've put so much time into it, unless this delivery goes off without a hitch I'd tell them to Go F*** themselves and takes your business elsewhere. They truly aren't worth it and allowing them to profit after so many F*** ups isn't a savvy decision.

Wondering this too. From the sound of it Magnolia is a separate company that has a presence in Best Buy much like the cellular phone companies... if this is the case part of the blame should lie with them.

Magnolia is a new branch inside of select Best Buy's that sell "higher-end" home theater gear - its meant to compete with companies like Tweeter and Myer Emco. They sell furniture from Salamander, BDI, etc and TVs like the higher end Pioneer Elites, etc. They have a separate team of reps and a separate area in the store that's meant to look money. Obviously, they just don't live up to the standard.

So - I sent out some hate mail to the last manager I talked to. He has replied and apologized. Its been handed to all of the managers, the "Store Manager" (apparently this last person was not the highest manager of the store) and I'm supposed to receive a call from him on Saturday, both before and after the TV has been delivered. He's asking what he can do to make this right, short of "a free TV..."

After the TV is delivered I'll probably go in to talk to the manager personally. Maybe I can walk away happier than I am right now?

Send that to The Consumerist and call their head office and complain it would be the best way to get them to move their ass.

Today's the big day...delivery is from 1-5pm. I heard from someone Wednesday that it was going to be guaranteed on-truck...starting to second guess since I haven't heard from anyone since!

I don't think that's right. Most stores this time of year extend their refund policy so they extend through Christmas. I'm positive Bestbuy does this, because last year my sister got me some headphones for Christmas and the gift receipt said I had until sometime in January to return them.

Absolutely NOT true. Don't spread bullsh1t lies just because you don't like BB.

http://www.bestbuy.com/olspage...3363607042&id=cat12098

Gift purchases made between November 1, 2007 and December 24, 2007, qualify for our Holiday Return policy. Qualifying products may be returned through January 31, 2008. The other terms of our standard policy (including, but not limited to, "non-returnable items" and "restocking fee," etc.) apply. Products purchased prior to November 1 or after December 24 and non-gift purchases do not qualify for our holiday return policy. For these purchases, our standard return policy applies, which is explained in the paragraphs that follow.

I've done exactly that in the past. I got a game for my son that someone else got him. I returned ours and had no problem. I got it over a month before we returned it.
