Lets say present consumption is 6 million barrels a day . Than increase by 10% annually . Now tell me how much oil your using daily in 30 years . Than tell me how much reserves ya have left . If ya get the math I be surprized.

The glaring problem occurs when we realize the incompetent arm chair general set includes the subset of Nato Generals and politicians
that are trying to run the Afghan war and that are making a total botch of it.

And like armies everywhere, Nato is good at breaking things and killing people. Unfortunately not the skill set needed to run a military occupation that needs to win the hearts and minds of the Afghan people.

Combine that with the initial Rumsfeld and GWB determination that Afghanistan was an occupation that could be done on the cheap cheap. And that may explain why we allocated far less than half the troops and a tiny tiny budget for building anything compared to Iraq, and Afghanistan is at least 25% larger than Iraq population wise.

And as a result, seven years later, Kabul may be pretty secure, but nothing else in Afghanistan is. And thanks to our Nato leaders who refused to address the problems before they grew, the entire Afghan government is corrupt, so is the army, war lords and drug smugglers rule the country side, and the Taliban is basically back actually running large parts of the country. Striking up new marriages of conveniences with providential governor, war lords, and thugs. Meanwhile drug money corrupts all.

Its not that Nato planned to lose control, but any idiot with an iota of military competence know it basically takes an occupying force of 600,000 troops to run a military occupation in a country the size of Afghanistan. And when we didn't even have 20% of that, its was inevitable.

These issues have been debunked again and again, and the comment about the Air Force is just stupid. Last I checked our Air Force doesn't escort every freaking civilian airliner, or scramble fighters the moment one goes off course.

I guess people from countries with corrupt governments naturally assume that all government are as corrupt as theirs. But IIRC the Chinese language doesn't actually have a term for "corruption" in the Western sense, so maybe it's just business as usual.
