I didn't really hate the cel-shaded graphics in XIII.

you were probably too busy swapping in and out of your drive the 4 cds it came on :)

Lol! Even when I bought Far Cry it came on 4 cd's! :)

I love violent 1st-person shooters. They are fun (though, some are more fun then others), good graphics and put you right into the game. Nobody gets hurt except your wallet. After I play Csysis, for example, my mind changes to the real world and I become the normal, peaceful, humble, non-violent, cooperative person that I am.:)

The Thief series will give you a chance to play violently, or avoid violence completely (save for a few instances) through stealth. Non-violence is recommended and more challenging. Great games, and there are some gems in the fan-made missions.

Honestly, I wouldn't call whacking some one over the back of the head with a sock full of nickles "non-violent". Especially when afterwards you throw his body down 3 flights of stairs or drown him in a courtyard pond. I suppose it was a step up from Doom II in that regard however.

You are absolutely correct, whacking someone over the head isn't non-violent. Evading or distracting them, however, is non-violent.

Sure...is it actually possible to beat the whole game though without ever knocking some one out? Its been awhile, but I remember a lot of scenarios where you could sneak around the problem...but I also remember a ton of them where I had to take one guy out at least.

I do remember the highest difficulty setting meant you couldn't kill anyone or the mission would fail. Dinosaur things and zombies I believe were excluded.

I haven't done it myself, but there were quite a few people who have ghosted the game/s. No violence whatsoever unless the mission required it to complete an objective.

I remember being shocked and mortified when I played PONG! That poor little ball getting slapped back and forth! Poor thing!

Because it's our nature. Even when discussing Utopia, the ancient Greeks believed that every man would have to know how to fight. I actually kind of like the fact that these games are around. Shows society isn't as pussified as it seems.

"Eye on the TV
'cause tragedy thrills me
Whatever flavor it happens to be

Like:
"Killed by the husband" ...
"Drowned by the ocean" ...
"Shot by his own son" ...
"She used a poison in his tea,
Then (she) kissed him goodbye"
That's my kind of story
It's no fun til someone dies.

Don't look me at like I am a monster
Frown out your one face, but with the other (you)
Stare like a junkie into the TV
Stare like a zombie while the mother holds her child,
Watches him die,
Hands to the sky cryin "why, oh why?"

Cause I need to watch things die from a distance
Vicariously, I live while the whole world dies
You all need it too - don't lie.

Why can't we just admit it?
Why can't we just admit it?
We won't give pause until the blood is flowin'
Neither the brave nor bold
Nor brightest of stories told
We won't give pause until the blood is flowin'

I need to watch things die from a good safe distance
Vicariously, I live while the whole world dies
You all feel the same so why can't we just admit it?

Blood like rain fallin' down
Drum on grave and ground

Part vampire, part warrior,
Carnivore and voyeur
Stare at the transmittal.
Sing to the death rattle.

La, la, la, la, la, la, la-lie (x4)

Credulous at best
Your desire to believe in
Angels in the hearts of men.
But pull your head on out (of) your hippie haze
And give a listen
Shouldn't have to say it all again

The universe is hostile
So impersonal
Devour to survive
So it is, so it's always been ...

We all feed on tragedy.
It's like blood to a vampire.

Vicariously, I live while the whole world dies
Much better you than I."

For example:

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/act....html?tag=topten;all;6

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/act...ml?tag=topten;rating;3

Or just at random, on the Gamespot site, the top 5 games available now for PC are all super violent, and involve killing people to be successful.

Maybe this game is more your speed.

The guitar hero/rock band series of games are hugely successful right now, and they're certainly not violent/grotesque. I know quite a number of males and females alike that want a wii so they can bowl, play tennis, etc.
