Why are there multiple hate-win-8 threads?

Can't these be merged into one? Does not seem like there is any reason for each individual complaint to have its own thread.

I vote for an official "I hate Windows 8" thread, and leave the rest of this board for other legitimate troubleshooting and discussion.

Pretty much. The internet is littered with more from just search options. Hell, even Microsoft's own support forums have this as their main highlight topic which shouldn't be the case. And it is filled with users that can't get use to or are uncomfortable with a shift in some ways of operation.

Leaving me to filter by looking and processing myself if there are any legitimate problems or solutions I can find.

Or have it so that the thread title is not filled with any synonyms of hate or hate itself and Windows 8. Instead, the thread title should be of the actual issue at hand.

I don't think you can lump every problem involving an entire OS into one thread. Where would it stop? Windows 7? Windows XP? Linux?

Everybody has their own specific qualms, and the purpose of forums, as I understand them, is for people to bring up their own specific issues, in a search for answers.

The threads that I have seen here are not mindless hate. They are mostly legitimate concerns about how things operate (or don't operate) in this new OS.

Everybody has their own specific qualms, and the purpose of forums, as I understand them, is for people to bring up their own specific issues, in a search for answers.

Operation of the product and user handling the product are two different things. And I said before, the thread titles need to be clear on it and not attention getting hate titles.

Most of them are threads about how they hated win8 so much they downgraded to win7. How is that constructive? It certainly isn't troubleshooting.

You are right it is Not constructive.

But it is a matter of "fashion", in the old good days Computer Enthusiasts use to be about Overclocking and tweaking.

I'll get my front seat for Windows Blue and Win9,10 etc and watch somebody say the word "fanboi" when I like something,sad OS forums have gone downhill,I can except anybody that does not like an OS but at least try and give honest constructive feedback rather and say "this sucks" or "you are a fanboi" etc...guess some things never change :hmm: .

Plenty of them aren't looking for specific help, just bitching in general. They definitely could be moved to a single thread, and that thread be used for continued bitching in general. It'd be even better if the board software could recognize such bitching and not allow a new thread be created. Or pick up key words and give the user some search results prior to allowing them to post a new question. While I'm at it, I'll take a Ferrarri.

Eh FWIW yes there are a lot of useless bitching threads, IMO, in a section intended to ask for and provide support. Most do end up with some recommendations, so perhaps that turns them into support threads, but I sincerely doubt that was the original intent (or that advice is actually followed).

I don't think you need combined threads for separate issues. Not the point.

Combine the hate-threads into one.

Leave legitimate troubleshooting threads as one for each issue/concern.

if these forums exist as a place for computer users to talk and epress opinions, then those threads are great.

if these forums exist for a more sinister purpose such as subtly pushing pro-this-company OR pro-that-company propaganda then yes, all threads that are not blatantly in favor of windows 8 should be promptly combined into a single unintelligible mess and said thread buried to the bottom of the forums.

And what about those that are browsing the forum and looking to see if they have similar problems but not able to pin point it with a search (which some forums, their search isn't that robust?)

Alot of garbage data to sift through.

Because it is plain utter crap, especially vanilla out-of-the box. Classic shell makes it tolerable. I miss "Remove Modern UI" in the "Add and Remove Windows Features".

The only, only reason to ever install it on my own hardware, is because you can't play most games on Linux (and FPS or RTS on consoles suck balls).

He means we don't need multiple hate threads,for example if you go to the other forums and somebody post a similar thread(whatever subject does not have to be anti-thread)) they get merged/locked or warned by a Mod etc that there is an existing thread ie for example seen it in PC gaming many times etc...having too many threads on same thing is pointless and does make a mess of the forums.

Anyway guess this one is really up to the MODs to decide not us.

With a little work, Windows 8 can be pleasant to use. It would be nice to have a sticky thread with all the tip and tricks to make Windows 8 not suck balls.
