When it comes to P&N, there are three main names to avoid:

Conjur
Dmcowen674
Steeplerot

Put Riprorin on top of any lists. His religious myopia and cardboard personality can have anyone hating all christians before the pageload is finished on one of his threads.

His threads spill over to OT every once in a while, like the one asking for a Evangelical Engineering Schools, or how Evangelicals are the fastest growing population segment or something and we should all repent because they're taking over.

I have the unpopular opinion here.

I wish there never had been P&N. I wish all those people posted here like they used to.

The forum was better/more mature/more intelligent before there was a P&N.

I miss those guys.

I venture to P&N once in a while, but not being a fanatic, unable to see the others side's point, accepting of any conspiracies which taints the other side, I guess I just didn't fit in.

Absolutely, if you're going to mention the most outspoken liberals in P&N then you have to mention zealots like Crimson, Rip (the worst by far) and CSG.

I'm not taking sides, but how could you possibly think it fair to ban a group of individuals based on their political and dogmatic perspectives?
I didn't say that, I just stated that if you want to avoid a pissing match avoid those members.

I hear ya ...I already had a run in with one of those guys ;)

QFT.

There are members in here that make even the most zealous P&N posters look like MENSA founders.

I was recently visiting P&N and I've realized how it's like a completely different world. I go there and there are so many people I've never seen before, it's like anandtech has two worlds, P&N and OT+computers. I've been in general hardware, operating systems and the sort but have never seen the people in P&N for the most part in those sections. It's almost as if they joined anantech for JUST P&N!

I know P&N is frightening. I think it should be moved to another site. They are strange.

If Anand doesn't mind losing some members, he's welcome to export them out to a new site I'm going to be starting soon that's dedicated to the topic of politics.

When there wasn't a P&N, Conjur posted in Off Topic quite a bit and he was a really cool guy. Then he started yagt.org, and still was a cool guy. Since I don't venture into P&N, I'm wondering - why does he need to be avoided in there? (I know that he's got quite a strong political stance and extensive knowledge)

They're all nuts over there and they take themselves WAAAAY too seriously to ever engage in discussing the mindless crap we talk about over here.

For the most part conjur is a pretty cool guy (we talk in PMs ocasionally.)

But he *is* decidedly one-sided and partisan - rarely, if ever, admitting wrong-doing or being mistaken. We all have to say "Oops! My bad." once in a while, but some people believe to be above that.

Anyway, conjur is banned for a month for some personal attacks he made, so it's not polite to talk about him. ;)
