So I work at a kid's park. This morning we had a school group booking. It was comprised of four schools, one which came from an indian reserve. So I'm loading kids into the ferris wheel. There are 6 cages. I've loaded 4 cages with 5 or 6 people. The other two cages had 4 each. So this little girl comes back from the bathroom. I go to load her into one of the cages that has 4 kids. These cages happen to have the native kids in it. The kid's Mom says to me, oh can you put her into another cage with kids she knows. She asks me to put her in a cage with a Grandpa and four other kids. Being the nice guy I am, and it being to early for me to start fighting with the patrons I put this kid in the already packed cage.
First off, kids have the easiest time making friends. It doesn't take much more then a "hello" and you've got two fast friends. But what pisses me off is parents projecting their personal prejudices on their kids. I know damn well this lady didn't want her kid riding with the 4 native kids.
It's frusterating. What chance has this kid got?, if their parent won't even let them go on a ride with someone with different coloured skin.
/end Rant
