most people are too dumb to even know what real rice is.
it is not rice if it has the body kit and power to match.
i agree, just doing the body and stuff without putting anything into the engine is rice and is ghey, but c'mon, having a car that looks bad ass that runs 11s is sweet.
Rice (n) Any car or motorcycle from Japan (yes this it what it means, the fact that you disagree just means you don't know where the phrase comes from)
Rice (v) To modify any external aspect of a car or motorcycle from Japan especially those aspects that imply speed.
Riced (adj) If you rice your rice, it's riced.
Tool (n) Someone who rices

That is to a T my reason for having my truck... for starters my Blower is not desighned for racing, it's a boost at Idle blower so it's great for the towing I do, and being Twin screw type and self contained it's one of the most reliable types out there also. I have 40,000 Miles on my blower now with no problems whatsoever, not only that but the atmospheric temperature is a lot cooler in a twin screw so the motor stays cooler and has a cooler charge so it's a better air charge and helps with detonation and my motor never gets above 180 degree's so it's great as my daily driver. With all this I have my CAT's and everything it takes to be DOT legal, not only Emissions but also Safety and I can run on pump gas and say I have shy of 600lbs of Torque in a small block daily driver thats got 50,000 Miles on it and did a near perfect compresson test. Those little imports that are pumping out all that power break things all the time, and is why they are not daily driven in most cases and also don't rack up the miles stock imports make.Originally posted by: Demon-Xanth
Main reason? Bench racing.
Most 'ricers' can't accurately estimate thier performance if they tried and rely strictly on manufacturer's claims. (ie: exhaust that can gain 50HP+intake good for 25HP==150HP+75HP makes for a 12 second Civic)
Most of the muscle car crowd can accurately estimate performance and can call BS on the bench racers almost all the time.
Another part of it is what's considered "streetable". Hot rodders will admit that they're car can only be used for short trips (usually due to low gears) but retain all the stuff that's needed for DOT. I've seen ricers that claim they have a 600HP daily driver Integra that features a one piece fiberglass front end (with no lights whatsoever), slicks, and a filled block. I wanna see a cop write a fixit ticket on that one![]()

Jesus H Christ, muscle heads did the EXACT same bullsh*t during the 70's. The difference being, ricers modify their car to what they think looks cool. Muscle heads modified there cars to run fast. Why anybody would spend money to make a slow car fast (or look fast) is beyond me. To take Red Dawn's analogy a bit further:
Ricers:
In the end of the day, you're still driving a slow, econocar, POS.
Muscle heads:
In the end of the day, you're still driving a fast, ancient, outdated, POS.
Why don't you morons get off your high horse and let people be who they want?
An RX7 that hasn't been joked up by some buckethead isn't rice...dood (now that's gay)ok that was one of the gayest comparisons i've seen dood...if you're gonna compare rice at least put in a supra or rx-7 or a skyline

When did muscle heads stop? They're still doing it, and to current vehicles. The thing about going for speed is that it takes a good amount of knowledge and skill to make it. You end up with a better knowledge of your car for doing it. And you got something you can feel and do. Some of the fastest cars out there don't look it. I got a friend who had a 377 SB in an El Camino, it didn't look like there was anything special. He'd go around and waste bigblock Cameros. The engine made 440Lb/ft of torque and 580HP (rear wheel, dynoed) and he shifted at 7500 RPM. What made it so hot? The little things that you can't see. Why doesn't he still have it? He had to sell it during a divorce, it's now in a 10 second Nova. My point? You can't always see the speed coming. C&D tested a twin turbo C5 Corvette that Lingenfelter had built, 640HP, it ran 11's (on street tires) and topped out at 214, at the time there was 15 of them roaming the streets, 8 of them opted out of the "Lingenfelter" decals. Can you say "Gotcha"?
The difference is that the muscle heads want the speed, ricers want the appearance of speed.
I'm sure you'd laugh at someone with "MSI", "AthlonXP", a Thermalright SLK-800 HSF, neon, window, and 20 fans on a custom painted case when they had a 240MHz Winchip on a PCChips motherboard too![]()

I'm sorry, but that's all bologne. You said yourself mustangs, camaros, firebirds are meant to go fast - then why compare them to civics?at any rate... ricers suck. All supped up imports suck. And here is the reason why:

I think the fumes from the gasoline and solvents have damaged there brains. Its like this in any hobby or industy. The originators always thumb their noses at the newcomers.Originally posted by: Demon-Xanth
Because that's what ricers are to hotrodders.

I think its the implied mentality that making your car louder and lower= higher performance=dumb.
That said, modifications that do increase performance are fine by me.
But at the end of the day....I'd still take a nice 'Vette.
