Beauty is not completely subjective.... not within the same society anyway.

If you show guys a lineup of women, the same girls would conistently find themselves near the top, and others near the bottom. It's clear that there are some traits that either evolution or society has trained us to see as attractive.

So I wouldn't consider it asinine to wonder why someone's opinion strays so far from the norm.

I may not be a rocket scientist, but there's no doubt that Cindy Crawford and Halle Berry would be near the top of the list, with Rachel Ray or Natalie Portman coming mid-pack and Ellen and Rosie taking up the rear.
 
She's gotten really skinny and not very attractive IMO.

She's cute. She looked really nice in Elizabethtown....I even liked her as the alcoholic little sad girl in Crazy/Beautiful. She was hot in the first Spider-man. Of course, there are tons of hotter women in Hollywood/modeling but anyone who thinks Dunst is ugly/gross is well...

Dunst is cute, but shes not hot. I agree with the people who mentioned the affiliation of nerd / cult movies and the lead female role in those movies.
 
Agreed she is not hot but she is better than average. However, when it comes to movies and the crowd she runs with she is certainly average. She grows on you in the films but in the third film I have to say your all over the place so much that their really is no character that gets much of a chance to grow.

i've seen both in person...

in person Dunst is very average, frumpy even.
but Natalie Portman is even more beautiful than her photos. her skin glows.
plus, she's extremely smart, which is always sexy.

Ok, I mean she's probably pretty, but I personally don't think so. She looks a lot older than her age, and if you had a 40 year old actress that looked exactly like her, I don tthink anyone would question the looks fitting the age, but seriously... Look at some of those pics. I mean come on, Demi Moore looks younger.

Moreover, I can easily scoop up a handful of HOTTER girls at the club.

I'm just saying in the looks category, she's nothing special. She reminds me a lot of Ellen Pompeo who also looks quite old, but Ellen has a cuter aura surrounding her.

If you think she's smoking hot, great, but honestly, how can she ever compare to Alba?

Ok, anyways I enjoyed Spiderman 3. MAybe not as fun as the first two, but good enough.

Yes you do.
A lot of people here were barely 10 when Leon was released. When I first saw it I was probably a similar age to NP when she was in the film, so there was nothing wrong with thinking she was attractive, and then you grow up and see her in other stuff and retain that attraction 😛
