My gaming chair at home is about shot. After about 1 hour of playing a flight sim my ass/tailbone is shot. The foam in the chair has pretty much flattened out and needs to be replaced...no big deal since it is a $50 target chair.

Started looking online at some choices and holy crap. $180-200 for a freaking chair? All I need is something that rolls, has a cushion that won't degrade, and is able to spin/accommodate my height (6'5").

I don't want to spend $200 on a freaking char, I'd rather it be on something that is fun!

200 bucks for a office chair is the ghetto version. everybody in my dept has 700 dollar herman millers and those are the ghetto version of HM's.

you can get a chair for cheap but it just probably won't be comfortable after an hour or two. if you're only in front of your computer a few hours a day that might be all you need honstly.

They are not all super expensive. I bought one a year ago from Office Depot on sale for $130 (I think). But I will say, keep your eyes pealed. Lots of crap chairs out there that cost several hundred. But this is the case with most furniture, only a few good pieces out there and lots of crap.

Edit: must have been on clearance. I can't find it anymore.

Be sure to test it out in store before buying.

Have you looked at the price of a quality auto seat? Seating that is durable and comfortable for long periods of time isn't cheap. Same deal with most furniture. Also most businesses aren't nearly as price sensitive as consumers. They'll look more at the long term value.

what is the name of that chair? and where can i get one?

We have those in our conference room. While they are comfy, they are not what I would consider an ideal desk chair. They aren't designed for relaxing. They are designed for basically forcing you to sit upright while in a meeting, and they do a great job at that. I've yet to fall asleep while in one of those chairs, and I've been in more than a few long, boring meetings while sitting in one of these.

I think they're overpriced. We have them for all of the chairs for our computer lab and workers. They're good but not $600-900 a piece worth.

well i cant get anything i like as much for any less, so, wrong penguin

they are better than a 900$ aeron chair, thats for sure

Because they need to make them able to be sat on by the metabolically challenge.

I find it interesting that people think a 100 dollar chair won't last for 5 years. They will, I have had many in my family. There is a commodity 80 $ chair that I have bought three of over the last 10 years. All still work just fine. Last one 8 bought was at bed bath beyond. They are pretty light duty, adjustable height and the arm rests are fixed and so is the back. The only thing is the fasteners come loose so you need to tighten them even ry 6 months.

$200 is actually not that much for a chair. Anything under $200 I would consider "low end." I have a $150 and it just feels cheap and gets flat if I sit for too long. I'm going to buy a nice one when I get around to it.

OP, this looks to be in your price range.
:hmm:

Get a standing desk, and you won't need a chair.
Need to be able to use rudders/joystick for my flight sims. Standing desk will not work.

Looks like I'll be shooting for the 180-200 range then. I'd much rather spend the money on other things but oh well...I need a chair!

Any chair that I have purchased for less than $200 has had to be replaced within two years. I picked up, a few months ago, a nice Tempurpedic chair from Staples.

It's very comfortable. Time will tell how durable, but, It's better constructed than the cheaper chairs I have had. Arm rests and seatback aren't attached to particle board components but onto a steel base. All load/stress bearing connections are steel to steel construction. It should be pretty durable.

I've got an Aeron at the office and love it. The only downside is that it's entirely too shallow in the seat, which cuts off the circulation to my legs from time to time.
