Why are newer cars coming out with red signal lights?

Red signal lights in the rear? Am I the only one that finds this extremely annoying?

If it's sunny in the daytime, it's very difficult to see a flashing red light trying to switch lane. It's much easier to see a flashing yellow/orange light.

It started loooooong back, and in most cases the turn and stop lights are the same, cost saving I guess. But to answer your questions, its just you, I have never heard anyone else rant about it.

I've noticed that luxury car manufacturers such as BMW and Lexus have stopped installing turn signals in their cars.

Count yourself lucky. In Arizona, turn signals are optional.
I suspect that's a national phenomena. My favorite is the complete stop that blocks passage, and THEN the turn signal goes on. If it was used appropriately, you wouldn't be stuck behind the mouth breather :^S

yeah its fving annoying, i hate it but my car has it too

I also hate the clear lense with red bulbs, so in the day light its also hard to see

This has long been a pep peeve of mine. Another thing is when the reverse lights come on when the car is parked. I love this in parking garages when you don't know if someone is about to reverse out of their spot.

Are you talking about when someone puts their car in reverse but just sit there?

Or are you talking about some new feature where their car is in the "P" park position, but their white reverse lights are still on?

I think it's a new "feature". There is a car where I work that has their white reverse lights on when started. Pretty sure it's not started with it in reverse, or at least I hope it isn't..

Honestly I am so glad you pointed this out. This has to be one of the single dumbest things ever added to a vehicle. Just not a bright idea in any way. I believe it is isolated to GM cars, no big shock there.

I also agree with the OP, amber signals should be the law.

There's a certain kind of lexus (don't know if current model) with two small round brake lights that are kinda pinkish and look to me almost like reverse lights to me.

Maybe these newer cars with the red signal lights are attempting to pull off some nostalgia?

My 1967 dodge dart had the same setup, basically one bulb per side being the lights/brakes and the turning while the reverse bulbs being white were on the bumper itself.

It was a design that came out in 1967,disappeared shortly in 1968 and made a comeback in 1969 before vanishing for good in 1970.

I don't like the new cars that broadcast the signal to the cops letting them know if your seat belt is on and how fast you are going.

Dunno about that seatbelt thing, but some cars have the spoilers that lift automatically at certain speeds.

The VW something or other(?) was the first car I was aware of that did that, and it was great fun watching the spoiler raise as they left a light :^)
