That's why I don't go. I could probably count on one hand the number of movies I saw at the theatre last year.
I am simply too damn cheap to spend $16 for two of us to go to a theatre, risk having crappy sound, and annoying people around us, when I could spend that same exact amount 3-6 months later when it comes out on DVD and watch it in the comfort of my own home at my leisure and actually have something(the dvd) to show for my $$.
But I don't even do that anymore. Instead of buying, I just rent it for a buck and be done with it.
I simply do not have the need to watch watch a movie as soon as it comes out. It doesn't bust my balls to wait. There are a very select handful of movies that I will actually pay the $$ to watch on the bigscreen simply because that is the way they were meant to be watched.
Star Wars, LOTR, and many war movies are those types of movies. Maid In Manhatten, Sweet Home Alabama, Austin Powers, and Dude Where's My Car do not qualify as "big screen worthy".
bah! Yeh, I'm I'm a scrooge.
