why are fast food places accepting credit cards?

cc fees to stores are usually $0.35 + 2-3%. i've noticed more and more fast food places accepting credit cards.

are fast food places just accepting the fee, or are they getting a special contract?

Prolly just know that it helps business. Also, I can't imagine it costs them THAT much, as it would kill profits.

A few weeks back I had to put $.04 on a CC. lowest ever for me!

Because the economy is so bad that they're willing to do anything to bring in more sales as long as there is profit.

GC covered everything but 4 cents on a purchase 😀

It's called convenience to the consumer.

Indeed, I virtually never carry cash on me. In fact, I have none on me now.

If I were out looking for something to eat at the moment, the difference between a place that took credit cards and one that didn't would decide where I went.

It's easier for me to not carry cash and just debit everything so I'm glad they take plastic.

Hahaha, $0.04
You don't even carry a few spare pennies?

company credit cards  easier than paying cash and trying to get reimbursed later.

edit: plus it's nice when you're getting food for a large group of people.

In what, my purse? 🙂 I rarely carry cash. It's antiquated and silly!

The fact that arby's has CC has influenced me to eat there a few times wen it otherwise wouldn't.

Im surprised fast food chains havent adapted credit cards sooner. It makes sense. Think about all of the people on lunch break or late at night who would buy something to eat from , lets say a McDonalds. Well, their pockets are empty except for their debit or credit card. They walk away. How many times do you think this happens a day. How many times does this happen at night? Taco Bell started using debit cards about a year ago, and I can tell you, when you are hungry late at night, driving around, and you have no cash, you will go to Taco Bell, despite their .50 or $1 fee they charge.

most of the time its more convenient to the consumer and the cashier if implented correctly. i hate places that accept credit cards but the CC verification is seperate from the cash register. they take your order via cash register, then have to swipe it separately from that cash register. then they have to manually type in the purchase amount, then go back to the cash register and put in how much they paid. thats the only time cash would be faster, but i still always go the CC route. i hate getting back unwanted coin change and smaller bills

But cash looks so much cooler. I especially like the ones with many 000 on them. 😛
